If you have 2 monitors....what do you use them for?

I am contemplating getting another and hooking em up for one big desktop.....

so convince me why...what do you like it for?

pr0n, showing off to to n00bs, showing off how big a geek I am to chicks, usually just vid editing, flash stuff, etc. I but the work on one screen and all the tools on the other screen.

yeah thats what i am interested in...

that or in web design work putting all the tools to one side and the page of image on the other

Work. There are most useful (at least to me) when I have to be working in one window while referring to information in another window. I do this all the time for documents and design work.

For that to be useful for web design, you'd have to be designing a high res page... And why would you do that? Even though I run 1400x1050, I sure as hell don't want to read pages that span the whole width.

i have two, but not set up in dual. i leave one out in the shop for when i need to do a reinstall / fix on a system. it's only 640x480 max too. POS 🙂

Various things really. Once you go duals, you never go back😉

I've had duals... It's overrated. For most tasks, it's easier to have everything on one screen.

If you say so. To each his own.

left, browsing whatever I'm working on. Right winamp, gaim, and whatever extra space I need to work on other stuff. Works wonders for when I have to copy information and stuff and things.

i watch tv shows i download on the left while working/downloading/web on the right

i also have the monitor on the right hooked up to a DVI KVM switch, so I leave the something on the left screen that i need to monitor for my main rig while I game on the right screen

I have two 22" monitors running at 1600x1200 each and i really miss having dual monitors when i get to work.

Usually, whatever I'm doing is on the main monitor, web surfing, newsgroup reading, etc. On the 2nd monitor I have konfabulator windows and all my IRC and IM windows open, along with FTP windows, bittorrent, etc. It also makes it possible to see an IMs I get while playing a full screen game.

Programming, web authoring, and smart document creation all benefit greatly from dual monitors

Personally I run 3 when coding.

API's -------- Coding window --------- Debugger/Testing window

OR

Code ---------- Another Class(Code) ----------- possibly a Debugger/tester or maybe msn or something like that

BTW I run 19" - 21" - 19"
Viewsonic - Sony - Viewsonic

Oh and google and "get" Ultra mon for your duel or more moniter setup. It's great having a task bar that only shows the tasks in that window!!!!!!!
I love it when I'm doing research because I don't get the Internet Explorer (15) I have then on different windows.

Having two monitors is like having two hands. You will wonder how you did anything with just one.
A few years ago I set up a 3 LCD setup at home. Not much use. Again, like having a third hand. Why would you need a third one?

In my experience.
2 monitors = necessity.
more than two = waste.

i use flash...without 2 monitors just gets too cramped...when i work in 3dstudio i go to the 3 monitor station 😀
