If you had to pitch a TV show to a producer for a non-reality show, what would it be?

Could you come up with something that could blow up into the likes of Friends, LOST, 24, etc.?

Apparentlky pitching an idea is harder than it sounds.

It'd be a little like battlestar galactica, but with me ordering around the robots.

Also, I came up with the 'idea' for 24 about six months before it became a show -- well, the part about it being real time, not the part about terrorism.

Non-reality? Dammit...I was going to pitch a 30 minute show of midgets standing on stools kicking contestants in the groin.

F that, me and my friend came up with the concept of "Sims" back in college (13 years ago). EA still owes me my royalties.

Actually, seriously, I'd like to see a revival of stupid gameshows in the classic tradition.

Match Game '75, back and just as tacky. Password. The Gong show, the $100,000 pyramid, etc.

A group of 26-30 year olds who have been friends for since they were 10 years old. A couple of who settled down with kids, a free-spirited do whatever, whenever he/she wants, a guy/gal struggling with depression and the going on of their daily lives. Will this work?

A fish swims too close to a nuclear power plant and mutates into a man. Realizing his new-found abilities but not revealing his origins, Jake O'Shens becomes a nationally known spokesman for environmental causes. He leads an organization based in NYC and his closest co-workers (all in their 20's) include Two-One-April, a gay vice-president named for John Muir's birthday; Da'nelle, a black woman who actually runs the organization from her executive assistant post; Kaylie, a sweet and naive gorgeous blonde receptionist; and Tomas, the Latino staff attorney.

Taking on clueless, evil developers and big corporations while relishing in the hip NYC lifestyle, he works tirelessly to protect the environment while privately struggling with having no family, no established friends and no meaningful relationships.

The background on environmental causes opens the door to shooting at locations anywhere in the world. Coupled with a heavy dose of today's urban upscale language, this will draw not only the coveted 18-29 group but lure viewers away from the Discovery Channel.

Comic relief is provided through cutting-edge, satirical observations about big business and the ethnic makeup of the staff, and from showcasing the magical, unique happenings that can only be NYC.

three brothers use a time machine to find their lost father only to find they are not only going back though time, but also though alternate versions of earth. At each time they find a unspeakable evil they have to defeat using their father's long lost notes. Also add in some deperesion about a murdered mother, and a long lost sister who may of been abducted by aliens/goverment. They are also all perty white kids with problems.

Here here

Though I mostly liked the jokes and the reality show look (might be why I liked the BBC's The Office also).

Firefly.

QFT, but they would have to add more significance to the Reavers. Maybe give them more power on the show, so that there is an ever present danger of reavers. That way stupid people that jsut want action will be satisfied.

I think Firefly would do very well without any revisions now that the Reality TV show era is over though. It could very easily go head to head with some of the dramas out there. Too bad Fox royally screwed it over.
