If you had to choose between a 'BMW E46 M3' and a 'Lotus Exige S',

Agreed. The Lotus is a sick car, but flashiness isn't always a good thing.

How's the weather? Is snow something to consider? Do you need four seats? If it was a second car, I'd pick the Lotus but not as an only driver.

That's correct.

The BMW is more practical, refined and luxurious, but the Lotus does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds and handles like a dream ? not to mention the Lotus looks immense. Hmmmm.

Just generally, be it influenced by your current situation (kids, etc) or just simply your opinion.

Exige S.

The Lotus is a pure driver's car...think street legal racing car and you'd be right on the mark.

Edit-I would keep the Maxima as a daily driver though. 😉 The Lotus is tiny and is not practical at all as a daily driver. There is almost no storage space and it is short on creature comforts. Hell, getting into and out of it is a challenge for anyone over 5' 6". I wouldn't change a thing about it though. The car doesn't even have power steering but man does it ever sing when you get behind the wheel. I've never felt more connected to a car in my life.

I am 6'4". I have ATTEMPTED to fold myself into a Lotus. I'd get the BMW because it is physically possible for me to drive it.

I have a friend who is 6'4" and I took him for a ride in the Lotus Elise I rented. Once inside the car he was fine but getting in and out was pretty comical. He said he sat in a Viper recently and felt more cramped in that than in the Lotus though.

M3. the only way I'd get the lotus is if I had a garage and a daily driver. assuming I actually had the money to buy and maintain these... heh
