To be rich.

People may say money does not bring happiness, sure, but the things money can buy, do :)

A telepathic DEVICE.

With that, politicians would have a hard time lying, since the truth could be found out.

A guilty criminal will never walk scott-free again.

An innocent would not be wrongly condemned.

World peace may actually have a chance, since we'll know if their intentions are good or bad.

first, I would pop me some popcorn and then get in a nice comfy chair before I start wishing. I would then wish for this wish not to come true and watch all the fireworks as the universe destroys it'self over the paradox

That's an easy one. Unlimited wishes requiring a simple, but unusual string of thoughts to activate. That way if I'm ever trapped, or thrown in jail, I wont be left without my wishing talisman and SOL. Also, the reason for the string of thoughts being unusual is, if simply wishing for something made it come true, could you imagine the mistakes you might make in the heat of passion or anger? Sheesh! :D

<< To have unlimited knowledge about EVERYTHING. >>

I would choose omniscience also... but with the ability to control what and how much information my brain processes at any given moment. Wouldn't want to go insane with the sheer amount of useless information in the universe! That, and there are some things that I just don't want to know about...

The complete and total cure for all Cancers of any and all varieties.

Second wish would be for my daughter to be cured from her seizures.
