If you had a new laptop you didn't pay for.....

I got a brand new dell as a system replacement for an old 400mhz laptop that had complete care...

So.. I've had this Dell Inspiron 5150 for maybe 2 months or so.. it's literally as new (used it basically as my desktop at work..)

3.06, 512mb, 30gig, cdrw, 15in sxga, etc etc... nice laptop

Should I sell it on ebay, and buy something else (maybe a year old or so ibm) or just keep it. How much do these depreciate? My thought process was sell it now while it's worth something, and buy something slower (p3m or slow p4m..)

I would just keep it... You wont pocket much cash by selling this used laptop and buying a new one...

I have a laptop I didn't pay for. Of course it's a company laptop, but still...

Keep it. Or find a way to buy the new laptop first, so you can transition between them seamlessly.

I have an extra inspiron 3800 I was going to use as a carputer.. it's a p3-600, 128mb ram, 6 gig hdd... it would work for 90% of what I do (email, surfing, etc.)

Since you've used it for two months, it's now used. Which means it's lost quite a bit off the sale price already. So you're not going to pocket much cash by selling it and buying an older laptop.
