I wonder what a reasonable way to cover the bottom of a laptop that had no case. Sorry such a weird question. i have lots of ideas but none of them seem practical yet. No case is yet available to purchase, dell laptop not yet out for sale.

Probably put it on a static mat, on a piece of plywood. Only if I really wanted it on my lap, otherwise just use it like a desktop, on a static mat.

You could 3D print one. I would love to here about this new, not yet available laptop!

Would just sit it on a desk until you can buy a spare part for your stolen/prototype laptop. :p

make your own cover with epoxy putty (bondo or pro-poxy).
cover the components on the bottom with clingwrap add some cardboard or other filler to get some offset for air circulation, cover that with with a sheet of wrap and conform to screw hole areas. spray on some mold release and then apply putty. you can sculpt it like clay a bit when it has started to set. after it has set you can drill, saw, file, sand as needed.
