Mmm...me like Suburu's. My aunt just got one, it is friggin sweet for only $18,500.

My whole thing about buying used is warranty and reliability. If I did buy used it would have to still come with a decent warranty.....

The absolute BEST car you can get for close to that is the Nissan Sentra SE with the Performance Package... Very similar to the Infinity G20...

Kills Civic, Focus, Protege

Edit: psteng19, great minds think alike..

Nissan Sentra SE w/ Performance Package? I will check that out.

Luckily, if I did end up buying a Nissan they Nissan dealership in Anchorage changed hands. The old owners were a bunch of crooks!

<< psteng19- Yeah dude, you really don't become noticed until you hit much higher status (Diamond, etc.) OR you are really witty or something stands out about your comments, etc.......

I am a Golden Member (have been for a while) and no one notices me, you have to realize that there is 50,000 people.

oh, is THAT what you meant. i thought you told me to change it 'cuz it was a stupid sig, or it was somehow offensive to you.

i really don't care... i'm not asking for respect here. i don't post much, and by the time i hit golden, everyone else will already be diamond or elite. it was just some random thing i put down there.

Back to the topic: I can't recommend the Sentra enough :D

Yeah I checked out Nissan's website. That looks really nice and would be right around $15,000 w/ the performance package......

If it does ever happen I will definetly check that out.

Couldn't agree with you more.
You currently drive a Sentra?
I have a '95 but I fixed it up a bit... will try to get pics up ASAP.

My next car will probly be the next gen SE-R or a G20.
I can't wait until the Spec V comes out this fall. Burn all them Honda's :D

My Sentra SE comes with:

145hp 2.0 liter (same as in Infinity G20)
Stage II sports suspension (handles corners like a BMW)
16" alloy wheels (yes, on a Sentra)
power everything (Windows, Locks, Side Mirros, including SUNROOF)
4 wheel disk brakes
180 watt 7 speaker CD system
Remote keyless entry w/anti theft and trunk release
Cruise control
Spoiler and sporty side molding
Titanium faced guages (sporty looking)
Fog lights

psteng19 did I miss anything?

Mine stickered at 16,900 but I got it for 15,900... Delete the sunroof and you're close to 15,000...

psteng19,

Yes, I currently have a 2000 Sentra SE w/Performance Package.. I traded in a 95 Sentra GXE that I bought new and put 167,000 miles on. I loved that car, it didn't leave me stranded once! The only thing I had to do to it was replace the alternator at about 90,000 miles. I drove that thing through a canyon (I live in Utah) to work every day for years... Indestructable.

hahahah... kinda going OT here and turning this thread to a Sentra thread.

drool.... those specs are making me jealous. i think you got a ton of options in with a great price.
the only negative i can come up with is maybe if you waited for the 2002 SE-R.

i don't think any car in this price range / class can beat the Sentra in terms of performance and value.

jeez...15K? That's a hell of a lot of money. What's your primary goal when you buy this car? Utility? Basic Transportation? Impress the ladies? If so, here are my suggestions:

Utility:

'94 Volkswagen Passat VR6 Estate
'95 850 Turbo Wagon
'98 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon
'82 Volvo 240 Turbo Wagon.(I want one so bad...)
'94 Saab 900SE

Basic Transporation(reliable, cheap):
'99-00 Honda Civic
1996 Honda Accord
1997 Saturn SC2
1998 Ford Contour SE/SVT
1996 Nissan Maxima
1996 Toyota Camry
1998 Mitsubishi Galant
1998 Mazda 626ES
2000 Mazda Protege ES

Dressed to impress:
1980 Porsche 911SC (the "real Porsche")
1987 Porsche 928 S4(300HP+, 160mph+. GT Cruiser)
1989 Porsche 944 Turbo(0-60 5.5 seconds, 159mph)
1990 BMW M5 E34
1992 Audi S4
1991 Audi Coupe Quattro (mod it to RS2 standard:))
1992 BMW 325i Coupe E36
1993 Mazda RX-7 III gen(Modern classic)
1990 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo "Fairlady"(3500lbs, but a corner carver/GT cruiser in one)
1993 Toyota Supra Twin turbo III gen(3300lbs, but same as above. Easier to mod for less $$$)
1993 Lexus SC300 (As fast as an SC400 when equipped with a manual)
1990 Alfa Romeo 164S (most unique car of the bunch here)
1994 Acura Legend GS Coupe (240HP, 6-speed optional. Definitely a cruiser)
1993 Volkswagen Corrado SLC (The "cheap man's Porsche". Awesome. Cult classic)
1994 Toyota MR2 Turbo (excellent after 1991)
1994 Subaru SVX LS

But...what will get you the ladies...is a Suzuki GSXR-1000. 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, 1/4 mile in 10.5 seconds. $10K. If I had 15K, I'd get the Volvo 240 Turbo wagon for $3K, and spend the rest on the bike. Tell me this...have you ever seen an ugly person on the back of a crotch rocket? Didn't think so. Get killed on insurance in the summer...but save yourself the money during the other three seasons in the world's safest car:) Have fun and economy!

Used 94-95 Mustang GT with as low miles as possible.

Why? Cause I like mustangs and the 94/95 have the SN-95 body style and the 5.0.

<< the only negative i can come up with is maybe if you waited for the 2002 SE-R >>

I know... The SE-R spec V adds to the options I listed above:

180 hp engine
17" Alloy wheels
6 speed manual transmission
Rockford Fosgate(sp?) sound system upgrade
More agressive sports styling... etc...

Since I'm doomed to high mileage on my cars because of work location, I've decided I will always have a car payment..

So, I'm getting one of these next year!

Me, personally? I'd buy an older Supra/300ZX/RX7 (around 93-94) and use the rest for funds in case if I need parts. If I could find a newer used Camaro SS, I'd consider one of those as well.

V8 Dakota. I'll be getting one in 4 months (at which time I'll have a sizable down payment)

You are a college student with no job?

Then you are an idiot to consider a new car. Get a three year old anything that won't depreciate on you. Spending $15,000 on a used 3 year old car will probably get you a better car the spending $15,000 on a new car anyway.
