jeez...15K? That's a hell of a lot of money. What's your primary goal when you buy this car? Utility? Basic Transportation? Impress the ladies? If so, here are my suggestions:
Utility:
'94 Volkswagen Passat VR6 Estate
'95 850 Turbo Wagon
'98 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon
'82 Volvo 240 Turbo Wagon.(I want one so bad...)
'94 Saab 900SE
Basic Transporation(reliable, cheap):
'99-00 Honda Civic
1996 Honda Accord
1997 Saturn SC2
1998 Ford Contour SE/SVT
1996 Nissan Maxima
1996 Toyota Camry
1998 Mitsubishi Galant
1998 Mazda 626ES
2000 Mazda Protege ES
Dressed to impress:
1980 Porsche 911SC (the "real Porsche"

1987 Porsche 928 S4(300HP+, 160mph+. GT Cruiser)
1989 Porsche 944 Turbo(0-60 5.5 seconds, 159mph)
1990 BMW M5 E34
1992 Audi S4
1991 Audi Coupe Quattro (mod it to RS2 standard

)
1992 BMW 325i Coupe E36
1993 Mazda RX-7 III gen(Modern classic)
1990 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo "Fairlady"(3500lbs, but a corner carver/GT cruiser in one)
1993 Toyota Supra Twin turbo III gen(3300lbs, but same as above. Easier to mod for less $$$)
1993 Lexus SC300 (As fast as an SC400 when equipped with a manual)
1990 Alfa Romeo 164S (most unique car of the bunch here)
1994 Acura Legend GS Coupe (240HP, 6-speed optional. Definitely a cruiser)
1993 Volkswagen Corrado SLC (The "cheap man's Porsche". Awesome. Cult classic)
1994 Toyota MR2 Turbo (excellent after 1991)
1994 Subaru SVX LS
But...what will get you the ladies...is a Suzuki GSXR-1000. 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, 1/4 mile in 10.5 seconds. $10K. If I had 15K, I'd get the Volvo 240 Turbo wagon for $3K, and spend the rest on the bike. Tell me this...have you ever seen an ugly person on the back of a crotch rocket? Didn't think so. Get killed on insurance in the summer...but save yourself the money during the other three seasons in the world's safest car

Have fun and economy!
