If you ever wondered where your confiscated airline items wind up...

My folks had friends who were airline handlers in the 80's. In 1996, we were at their house and my folks mentioned that our camera broke. They went into a drawer...which was filled with cameras, and gave us two. Apparrently, items which had been unclaimed for a certain amount of time were given to employees. They also had a closetfull of coats.
 
I wouldn't mind the 30 assorted multi-purpose tools, but then I remember I only really need one, it would be cool to have a whole bunch though, and I would be beyond mad if they confiscated my leatherman at the security checkpoint...
