Seriously, the media needs to reality check themselves

She is white and she said it
He is black and he said it

Is ok for him and not her?

If one race can do something, or is allowed to do something and another isn't is that a form of racism?

Did the exact same people who don't want the word used also make the song? :hmm:

Ok, well then maybe the "media" should be upset at the artists creating a song that promotes a word they dislike

If a word shouldn't be used then it shouldn't be used...by anyone of any color...otherwise it's racist

Saying a word should never be used sounds like suppression of freedom of speech. Who says it should never be used and why should we take such people seriously?

fuck the media. What are Kanye and Jay supposed to do?

Jay: Yo K - I think we have a hit with this one...
Kanye: Which song are you talking about?
Jay: Niggas in Paris.
Kanye: The media isn't gonna like that one...lets shelf it.

You know you can use that same word, drop the -a and add an -er at the end, direct it at a white guy and suddenly it's not racist anymore. The easiest way to handle a racist term is to twist it into something that isn't racist anymore. Hell, Ritz made it into a business model

I just don't understand how or why somebody can get upset as easily as that. If you don't let it bother you then it won't get anywhere. Inb4 "you're white you don't understand." I do understand. I'm white and I live in NYC. I'm a minority!

Blacks say whites should never say it...and think some of you are missing the problem since it wasn't linked in the OP...some famous white chick was singing it or something and was called out on it by the media since she shouldn't be saying that word, can't remember who but it's just bullshit

In Chinese the word for "that" (obviously, a very common word, often repeated many times in a row if someone is trying to think of something) is "nei ge," pronounced the same as "awesome dude."

It was just funny when I was on my internship in China hearing these Chinese people walking around going "awesome dude awesome dude awesome dude."

I don't know what tell you other than context matters and it doesn't take a high IQ to work in the media so it's not surprising that some of them don't understand that.

See stuff like this is upsetting also, If I called someone red head boy or white boy, that would be fine, but to call someone black boy, well that's racists, when did black boy become something negative, I hope every white parent screams in outrage every time someone refers to their kid as white boy.

Its just so god damn stupid listen here over sensitive people of all races and creeds and denomination, its time to pick your battles, fight for something like disparity in wages, and racial profiling, or treatment of inner city schools, not shit like this.

I agree that calling someone "black" is not racist. The guy I'm seeing is black and we reference it a lot. There is no problem. Nor do I mind being called "white" frequently, as i think it's important to bring awareness to the fact that white people are so often not even called "white". They don't have to think about their race.

However, I see the N word differently. While we are equal as races (or at least, are supposed to be these days), there are cultural differences and I think that is great. I don't think it's the worst thing ever if a white person uses the N word, but I think it's disrespectful unless you are close with a black person and they're okay with you using it around them. Black people are owed their own cultural way of speaking with one another, and I find that to be a good thing. I have hung out with my guy's family and friends and it is interesting to experience how much they really do call eachother the N word. They are also upper-middle class. Not uneducated or anything. Actually quite smart. That's why I find it to be cultural among black people, not a sign of anything else. In my opinion, because of the historical background of the word, it still is pretty disrespectful for white people to use it, as it was so extremely derogatory for so long.

Good....so it's disrespectful for any white person, then, to say, write, or in any way reproduce the title of a song, which is what this so-called controversy is about.

FYI...Gwyneth Paltrow, someone who is a big fan of and has adored rap/hip-hop for years, Tweeted the title of a song, Niggas in Paris, and then gets blasted for daring to write the title of a song because she's white.)

Here's what happened:
Last weekend, while onstage at the Throne's much-ballyhooed Paris concert, Paltrow tweeted a pic of herself with a few friends and captioned it: "Ni**as in Paris for real @mrteriousnash (the dream) tyty, beehigh."

So, a white person cannot use the title of a song, right? According to you, she can't, which is just stupid and racist.

Of course there is nothing wrong with the tweet. Context matters. Whoever had a problem with it was ignorant.
