start going. seriously. It's the best thing that you will start doing in your life

no one will judge you in the gym

too many positives to count

only negative... cost? just don't eat out 3 times a month and there you go

I worked out alot at school.

At home, the gym aorund here sucks. There are no free barbells, and the dumbbells max out at 60.

I can feel my muscles turning to mush. And it makes me sad.

It takes time and money, both of which I have, but don't feel the need to spend at the gym. I'm 6'1 174lbs. I'll stick with my running and the occasional situps and pushups 😛.

Running outside + pushups + situps on a daily basis is free and keeps you in fine shape.

Keeps your cardiovascular system in fine shape, small parts of your back, your triceps and part of your abdomen might be in decent shape, but the rest of you body would disagree.

Save gas, time and money, buy a set of barbells. Then you don't need to sit on a sweaty machine either.

I don't notice anything lacking in my day-to-day life.

Just because you don't notice anything lacking in your day to day life doesn't mean that your body is in optimal condition.

There are no downsides to a proper workout. It prevents injuries later in life if you keep working out because the muscles provide support for your body

Exactly what else would I need to focus on so much that I should get a gym membership?

How about your core? Situps only train a small part of your abdomen. Stuff like squats strengthen your entire core everywhere instead of small areas. It helps develop the stabilization muscles that are key to good core health and strength.

I like those barbells that are all in one. Those are kinda nifty. But yes, you fatty fucks need to go to the gym so you can be a buff fatty fuck.

Why go to a gym? I have a treadmill in my living room, and a weight bar net to the TV cabinet.

If nothing else, do pushups and walk around the block.

I do not see the use in paying for something that I can get for free.

i go to the gym 4 days a week during the week then take off on fridays and the rest of the weekend. i couldn't imagine wtf i'd do at home right after work if i didn't go. when i was injured and didn't do it i was bored just sitting around watching tv or playing games.

OK, how about getting the P90X DVD and set a freeweights on top of running/cardio? It's still less than a monthly gym membership.

OP should change title to "if you don't regularly workout..." i workout 5-6 days a week in my garage or on my driveway. after the initial cost i pay $0 per month.

Because the P90x is only for people who want to be Athletes and it will make you good at doing what the p90x workout entails, Heavy Weight lifting is for people who want to be strong.
