If you could travel backwards in time and stop yourself becoming from a member of AT.

If you can time travel just to stop yourself from AT membership, will you do it?

  • Oh Yes!

  • Oh No!

  • AT is my life!

Would you do it?

And what's the scale of impact would it have made compared to your current situation right now? Estimate and express the difference in pure monetary terms if possible.

Example: If I hadn't joined AT, I would have used all that time productively and have had an extra savings of 100000$ in my bank right now....

Ready? Set? Go............

I wouldn't, it's not detracted from my "real" life in any perceivable manner. And I enjoy the H&F subforum a lot.

Before I started posting here, I'd gone several years without doing any sort of sustained forum use anywhere, and several years since last I used IRC heavily, etc. I was on a multi-year streak of using the internet without getting engaged in any sort of discussion or debate with strangers, and I view that as a good thing.

If I could go back in time and stop myself from getting hooked on this forum, I absolutely would do so. It has been a huge time sink, and I've also gone through a transition from liberal to something way out on the other side of the spectrum while on these forums, right in full view of others, which is sort of a vulnerable and embarrassing thing to do "publicly." Especially because at times I've over-corrected as I came to new realizations, and been too extreme.

I hope I can break the forum habit again soon, and I know there are plenty of people here who hope I do too!

Yeah, it's pretty amazing to see someone turn into a white supremacist, that's for sure.

Which I'm not, so if you ever hear about such a transformation let me know, I'll do it up like a meteor shower viewing.

If I could travel backwards in time, I'd probably focus on financial decisions that could potentially make me a millionaire. Stopping one's self from joining a website shouldn't be high on anyone's list of time travel priorities.

No. It's unlikely that I would have spent my forum time doing anything productive anyway. I also think I've grown as a person due to these forums. Never underestimate the effect of being exposed to the thoughts of people from as many different walks of life as we have here.

If I wasn't wasting time here, I'd be doing it somewhere else.

If I had gone back and registered then I must have meant to. If I went back and kept myself from registering then I wouldn't have seen whatever it was that made me change my mind so I wouldn't know I should have gone back so I wouldn't but if I didn't then I would have registered and known to go back but then...

i might be leaving for a hiatus soon
