What questions would you ask?

I have a unique opportunity here, I'll be attending Blogher 11 in San Diego next month, I'm scheduled for a 1 hour session with HTC where I'll get to preview what they've been up to
and get to ask questions, tell them what features I'd like to see in my dream phone.

Samsung is also going to be a major player at the conference & they're sending me a Galaxy Tab to put it to the test during the conference, I'm eager to really play with the Galaxy and to review it alongside my Asus Transformer (The Galaxy will be returned to Samsung after the conference so the review will be unbiased)

I'm super excited & don't want to waste this opportunity to ask these OEM's good questions and to tell them what the gadget loving community wants most from them. Please, share with me what questions you would ask & the info you'd like these companies to hear.

How do they feel about the single device multi-use set-up of the Motorola Atrix and the other phone (cannot remember the name at the moment) which is going to fit inside a tablet? Do they think that in the near future we'll have a single device which can act as the four different major computing platforms (cell phone, tablet, laptop, desktop)? Is Android/Linux the operating system to do this with, or is something like Windows 8 device dependent UI going to be the future?

HTC: Given the recent fracas over Gingerbread on the Desire, why don't they offer a customizable Sense on all their devices? i.e. allow people to select which components they want, or uninstall those they don't.

These would be my questions as well. Can the Sense 'experience' be in the form of a downloadable update from their site?

tell them to get control of their brand like apple does. have 3-5 phone brands that they update once or twice per year for each one. not this every phone has a different name for a different carrier when it's the same phone

and stop their crapware from running in the background. i don't care if you preload it, don't leave it running with no way to stop it

This is probably more carrier related than from HTC/Samsung.

HTC: Will you open-source your ROM and hold a tweak-a-week contest to bring more functionality to your phone?

Samsung: Would you consider a 2.6" screen 7mm thin Android touchscreen phone with real buttons (backlit) on the bottom?

Samsung has made a very consist high end brand with the Galaxy S and S2, yearly updates and absolutely bleeding edge hardware.

The different names for different carries won't change.

"You're both very important players in the modile industry, and all the major US carriers can't ignore you, so why don't you consider streamlining your product line-up so that US consumers can get the latest phones sooner, without having to bend over to carriers so they can get 'their' version?"

Where are the promised unlocked boot loaders?

Why didn't Samsung do something about the GPS issues on it's phones?

Why does HTC insist on producing phones with such miserable battery life?

Both: Please bring hardware shutter to your phones damnit.

Both: Please implement HTC Incredible S and Sensation's LED buttons. They aren't just backlight, but actual LCD images!

Both: Your reception flat out sucks. Your antennas are weak compared to the Moto Droid series. My Nexus One and Nexus S got smoked in reception compared to my Milestone. Heck, my Nexus S and attenuation issues make it look worse than the iPhone 4 sometimes!

Samsung: WTF is with the no notification LED business?

Samsung: Fix your GPS. Even if it's fixed, your devices have notoriously weak GPS reception. I can get a lock outdoors, but indoors is useless. The HTC Nexus One locks on ridiculously fast with PURE GPS compared to the Nexus S. Even the Moto Droid series are reasonably fast. Foursquare checkins are almost useless to me because I ALWAYS have to search the venue instead of looking at what's nearby. If I'm indoors, I'll never get a lock. Even if I'm outdoors, I need to stand around for a minute for Foursquare to show me nearby venues. Otherwise, aGPS is useless when you need accuracy.

HTC: Please fix the goddamn earpiece on your phones. Not only do voices sound small, the volume is always too low. Learn from Moto? The same goes with your speakerphones. Stop putting tinyass speakers.

This man knows what's up. I honestly can't think of a more concise list of my personal pet peeves with these manufacturers.

HTC: Will future phone be shipped with better quality cameras? (I have an HD7 and the pictures are terribly washed out and blurry compared to my Nexus S).

I'd ask both why the independant non paid guys over at XDA consistantly put out better, ROMs in a much faster time frame than the paid developers.

Bring out the HD2 again, but with better hardware. Use same design. Keep the phone dial/hangup buttons!

HTC ask them how bloody long does it take to make good on promises to unlock ALL bootloaders as they announced they would...
dont make promises you cannot or will not keep.

still waiting on an updated root for the EVO and a root at all for the EVO 3D

There was already an announcement on that. I guess you must have missed it. August and September they are sending out the updates for the bootloaders.

Ask HTC to comment on Android vs. Windows Phone and the different philosophies therein (i.e. one OS allows many customizations that HTC has taken advantage of, while the other is more "stock" and makes it harder to differentiate your product.)
