why bother? the result would be:

1) communication becomes harder due to missing word; or
2) word never missed, as most words have synonyms; or
3) new word, with same meanings and connotations, is quickly coined.

outcome 1) would just be annoying, while 2) and 3) would prove how pointless this exercise is.

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia.
Or maybe pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.

The sad part is, that pronunciation is in the dictionary too. Maybe I'll have to check the older dictionary at home and see if it was added after it was printed.

No, never pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis! It won me a little contest in 3rd grade where we tried to come up with the longest word we could find in the English language, far back before the internet would've made this a simple 10-second search on Google. Most submitted the tried-and-true, but just not good enough antidisestablishmentarianism. Yeah, I laid the smack down.

:p

Relating to the OP, I say diarrhea. That word just conjures up the worst in sound and visuals. :disgust:

I would too.

1) I don't like how a lot of people gimp on the word. Saying the F word every other word does not make me get your point better.

2) I'm curious as to what word would take the place as the obscenity screamed in a moment of terror.

As weird as it sounds i would either add another word meaning love or completely banish the word. People use it far too often to mean nothing of what it should mean. To love a person and to love pretzels should be completely separate things

That's easy. It would be that colorful 4-letter word that begins with F.

Fair

That word's got to go, because nothing in life is fair, and maybe people would understand that if it were removed. ;)
