Thats political aptitude and I seem to be the only person who's voted for it.
I'm thinking you guys don't realize that this attribute has nothing to do with government. It has to do with interacting and working well with others. Good negotiating skills. In the current world, there isn't a more important skill.

so you'd take charistmatic politicians over competent ones? i'd gladly take 535 engineers over 535 supposedly-charismatic-do-nothings.

Exactly what i had intended.
Just because our current political figures are riddled with wrong-doers, doesn't mean you cant wish the aptitude on your child. We're lead by politicians (in gov't and in business), if you have offspring with an aptitude towards politics (interpreted as social/leadership skills and the ability to sway arguments) an honorable politician could be great!
Any of the traits i offered could be used for bad - scientist could create a horrible weapon, literary person could write something powerfully evil, entertainer could motivate people to like a new demeaning form of entertainment.... etc

I agree. And I'd rather be someone (and have my child be someone) who makes useful contributions to society, not an incompetent who gets by on charisma.

When was charisma and competence made mutually exclusive? Did you even read the original post? We're not picking the only trait or ability a person has. We're picking their gift. Most people don't even have a "gift"...

How so? Can you expand on that? (I'm interested, not challenging you)
