if there's only 1 then it's a toss between soldier or demo. I voted soldier on offense and demo on defense but if i have to use a single class for both purpose it's probably gonna be soldier.

I've always played healing classes in various RPG's, so of course I'm usually medic in TF2.

1. spy
2. spy

This class is excellent for both tasks - disruption of sentries and teleports. Heavies without pyro's backup are easy targets for back stabs. The back stab animations are well done, esp. the ones for the snipers. It is indeed hard to play it against a well organized team (roof sentries sapping in badlands is virtually impossible with pyros doing their job helping engies). But since most servers are public, a lot of people are doing their own Rambo stuff leaving engineers alone.

And the most satisfying part is to stab an almost-ready-to-go uber medic. It is always funny to listen to people cussing when that part happens. :)

Offense - Heavy
Defense - Engineer

I love being a stealth heavy, sneaking up to a ledge, then dropping in amongst the enemy and then mowing them all down. Afterwords taking time to eat a sandvich and move on.
The only issue I have are snipers, often times I can't move out of the way fast enough when I notice one zeroing in on me. Spies aren't a problem, be paranoid and everything works out well.
As for Engi on defense, you learn the angles of a level and where to place a sentry most effectively. The main thing to remember is to bail when an uber is incoming. Your sentry probably won't survive but if your team is halfway decent they will take out the two players once the uber is over and you can rebuild quickly.

Spy is the most satisfying class in TF2 cus it's the most difficult. I never played Spy in the beginning cus I sucked at it but got into it in the past 6 months and it's just so awesome to play.

spy for offense because the ability to sap sentries is too valuable especially if they have a lot of engies. sapping everything in an area takes a few seconds but getting it all fixed takes ages.

Sniper for defense because it's easy and fun. Demo is second in terms of sheer usability. Spy too but that's just because I play it the most.

spies are pretty useless against a good team, though. at best you'll get a couple sappers up, the engie will knock them off and you'll die in a fire, a proper end for spies.

spy is indeed hard to play right, but it's one of easiest classes to play like an ass. just run around a crowded area wildly swinging your knife and you'll probably get a couple backstabs.

Spy is very hard against a good team. Constant pyro checks, along with everyone checking you by shooting at you, no one looks in the same direction for more than a few seconds, no one stands still, if they hear a backstab they are on alert immediately, if they hear the dead ringer go off immediate spy checks, good engineers with good placement and defense, etc. etc. Then again it's more rewarding when you get a backstab or sap.

I have to go with Soldier for offense, Spy for defense.

I love heavy, so it for both....

Heavy actually takes a bit of skill to play it really well.

I've been playing Scout a lot more recently and having a tonne of fun with it. It seems they have added back the double-jump to the Sandman and that has made things more fun for me. I love using the Sandman, but hated losing the double-jump, but with it back I am all over this thing. I'm getting better too, but still nowhere near the level of the good Scouts out there.

i think they took HP away from scout with sandman i remember i've had 95HP. my scout dies a lot quicker now somehow.

anyway i've seen devastating demo and spy but never seen a scout worth remembering. I am sure the kind that goes around bridges in 2fort doing hit and run will seem invincible, but it's called a team fortress for a reason LOL.

Ahh, right, I did notice the 95 HP. I've seen some crazy Scouts on a couple of servers. Scouts are extremely obnoxious when effective, so I definitely remember them.

Played correctly, nobody stands a chance.

Exactly why I almost never play any more. The scout is way overpowered. Maybe I'll pick it up again if Demo or Soldier ever gets some love.

You can't be serious. There are so few people who play the scout well. I don't care what class you play- if you have balanced teams, no class over powers any other class. The soldier and demo are tough enough as they are. They don't need updates.

Scouts are deadly when there are less players. When it's 16v16 Badwater or Gold Rush, not so much.
