If You Could Choose Any Previous President...

Seeing the fact that both candidates aren't the best in the world, we all agree(?) that neither candidate is an ideal choice, but one must pick the "lesser of two evils" so to speak.

If you could choose any former president of the United States to lead the country for the next ten years, who would you pick and why?

I'd make a poll, but 43 is just too long and people don't like to scroll that far. 🙂

Thomas Jefferson. Hands down. That guy had wisdom up the ying yang. Unfortunately, he would probably rather die than live in present day US.

Strong points:
Strongly opposed to a strong central gov't.
Strongly opposed to a central bank.

George Washington. While President he personally led an army of 12,000 men with Alexander Hamilton by his side to put down the Whiskey Rebellion. If that's what he did to some hick farmers in Pennsylvania, think about how much terrorist ass he'd be kicking right now. Can you imagine Bush telling Powell to take his uniform out of mothballs, we're going to go lead the invasion into Afghanistan or Iraq?

Bill Clinton 😀

I'd pick President Clinton as well.

I find it odd that anyone who would choose Jefferson would oppose Clinton, XZero. After all, judging from recent Republican history, if Jefferson was president now the Republicans would attack him for cheating on his wife, having a mistress, and black children, right?

When discussing historical figures, please judge them in the context of their times and not by modern values. Otherwise, it's revisionist history, something you condemn the liberals of, right?

Poll huh?

One of the old school guys to wake people up and let us know that they didn't intend things to stay the same for hundreds and hundres of years-- like the electoral college.
