Cool, how was it working for IBM back then? Was it really like a business cult like it is made out to be? Was there a dress code, company songs,..? Were you expected to wash your car and play golf on sundays?
I started in 1968. If there was that 'cult' that we've all heard of, it didn't reach down to Field Techs like me. Dress Code - yes- white shirt, suit and tie even for me. Company songs - long before my time. No one there ever cared what I did on Sunday, as long as I showed up on Monday. :)

Actually, I really liked my job for 25 years. The last 5 sucked big time!(long story).

I would have made Motorola let IBM buy into 25% of their shares (their regulation for using a companys microprocessor) so the world would be Motorola based, and FASTER.

Hmm if I could change something I think it would be in the video card market. I'd keep S3, Number Nine, 3DFX, and Diamond Multimedia in business. And I would have companies like SGI and Sun make computers designed for regular users, not just businesses/govt/research/3dmodeling/etc.

Cyberian: Do you own lots of IBM stock? If so, you must be making a killing if you were able to buy lots of shares going back to 30 years ago...???
