Close but not quite. PHS works on 900mhz, basically it's a cordless phone on steroids. This an i-Mode phone, a regular NTT cell phone so it'll work on a PDC network running at 800mhz or 1.5GHz. The new 3Ghz FOMA phones are I believe are W-CDMA.
