Since when was I Canadian?

Has anybody tried Sam Adam's Light? The adverts flaunt how good it tastes for light beer.

There are a few states in the US where they sell 1/2 content "beer" and the legal drinking age is 18.

This is the best site I have ever found for info on different beers: www.beeradvocate.com

Personally I drink Duvel(got hooked in Belgium) and Guinness.

I've never heard of that, but it's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. What's to stop 18 year olds from just drinking twice as much, then? They may as well just lower the age to 18.

Well, unless you're in the UK, in which case you can legally drink beer (and that's full beer, as well as spirits) at 18 :D

About the only good thing about the UK i guess ;)

It seems that the last states doing this switched from 18 to 21 during the 90's because the feds were withholding their highway funds. So now all states and DC are 21.

I went to the Sam Adams brewery in July and we got to drink fresh Octoberfest. They had just finished the first batch a week earlier and we were the first of the season. It was really cool. You go on a tour of the brewery. They ask for a $1 donation to a charity which I happilt gave. You enter a room with a little bar in the corner and sit at these long tables with benches. They guy hands you a cup and they start pouring beer in pitchers and handing them out. You could drink as much as you wanted and we got to try four different types. Definitly worth the trip. It is in Boston if anyone is wondering.

I am also serving Octoberfest at my wedding this weekend. Enjoy!

Doesn't sound like you did. How can you put Killian's in the same category as Guiness. Killian's is just Sewers (Coors) with red food coloring. Guiness is the Mother of all beers. Then comes Harp and Bass for mass produced beers. Boulevard Porter is very good. Old Chicago's has one of the best selections of world beers. All you beer lovers should check it out.

Louisiana was one of, if not the, last states to change to 21. We never had any crazy half assed beers! Man, the good old days of 18 to drink. They didn't even have bouncers at most bars! I remember going to bars when I was freshman in high school. Man that was a blast. :)

Anyways, Sam Adams Octoberfest is one of my favorite seasonal beers. Excellent.

<--Preparing for 2nd annual Scotchtoberfest (friend's party) :D

I've come to realize that Corona really is ass in a bottle...

If you want good, cheap beer, try Michaelob Amber Bock.

bitter like corona! Hahaha! Corona ain't bitter. Go have a real beer that you can't pick up the pint and see anything through it. The capt. is a malt liquor, so it's technically a beer, but it's so sweet it doesn't count. Beer is not sweet by and large except for wine coolers and these men's lemonades (Mikes, Doc Otis, etc) Which I enjoy on certain occassions.

corona is overpriced, and not nearly as good as the other Mexican beers out there. Pacifco, carta Blanca, modelo, or Bohemia are much better. I won't turn down a Corona though

Heineken is overpriced skunky ass beer. Never liked it, not worth the price. I will turn down a Heineken in favor of almost anything else, including watery domestics like Bud ligt, Coors, Bud, put not mgd.

Good beer that I like: Sam Adams. To answer the question posed originally, I've had Octoberfest before, and I liked it alot. Their summer ale is pretty good too. The only Sam's I haven't liked was the Cranberry Lambic and the stout, but that was a few years ago, and my palate has changed. I'd probably like it more now.

I also love Newcastle,Harp and Bass. Guinness is great at certain times, but not my favorite. Personally I can't have more than 3 or 4 because of how heavy a beer it is. Pyramid makes a couple of good beers that I've liked. I only had Shiner Bock once, but I really liked it. I was surprised to see it in California, after having heard so much of it from people in Texas.

When I drink good beer, I like to sample microbrews. There's a place in Long Beach called the Yardhouse and they have an excellent selection of microbrews. I've gotten tanked off of several half yards many times. There's a place in Santa Monica that's trendier, called Father's Offce, which has a great burger with sweet potato fries. They have an excellent microbrew selection, many that I'd never heard off. The problem is that I can hardly ever remember the names of the beers I liked when I go the next time. I do remember them when I try them again.

Currently in my fridge: some Newcastles and some Sam Adams Boston Lagers, courtesy of Costco. I have a few Bud lights, but those are for marinating and cooking. I only drink them as emergency reserves :D

wow, I'm a windbag :)

I put Killians in only one of the same categories as Guiness, not crap beer. Its definitely not as good.
