I liked Firefox before, but with 1.0 out, it just smashes IE, every bug I knew of before is now fixed.

i tried firefox and mozzila. i didn't like it. switched back. it seems like a good browser, but i've used IE for god knows how long, and I see no reason to switch. if you stay away from porn and keep your system patched, IE works, and thats all i care about.

Meh, I guess if you like pop ups, daily security updates and slow page rendering, stick with IE. :p

What a horrible site.
An ad on the left, a HUGE ad in the middle, "sponsored links" all over the text.

I'm not going to be baited into a flame war by you, but IE loads faster for me (this I tested with both caches cleared then disabled), and I don't get pop-ups because I don't visit sites that do pop up more than 1 at a time.

Plus, google has popup blocker for those of us not on xp.

Hmmm. What browser are you using? I visited with firefox 1.0. I took me 5 seconds to remove all the adds (permanently) and I don't see any sponsored links.

That's too much to read. Still using IE here, if you're computer literate it's fine. SP2 (popupblocker/firewall if you somehow didn't already have that), autoupdating windows, and perhaps a plugin or frontend that you like (googlebar).

I was once a stubborn IE user. IE was "good enough", "they are all the same." However I switched because of the constant patches I had to download, the annoying popups, and Microsoft's monopoly.
I truly like the TAB function of firefox, you can have 1 window with multiple pages. The find option is neatly tucked at the bottom. The cute fox icon beats the ugly blue e any day.
What is faster? Firefox in some cases. IE has a lot of pop up which slows down my speed, while ff blocks them all.

I use Opera, FireFox and IE. Opera is my favorite because of all the features. But IE is still faster than both of them. Even moreso with SP2.

Of course, Microsoft, though not as agile as it was in its younger days, responded eventually to Netscape which it had obviously deemed a threat. The early versions of Internet Explorer were clearly inferior to Netscape. There was little, if anything, that recommended Internet Explorer over the Netscape browser ? except that they were free. Free goes far in this world. Free is what gets products into schools and offices, what people get used to and accustomed to ? and whether you believe it or not, branding works. People begin to feel comfortable with a product, they trust it and even become faithful to it.

There's no reason to use IE over Firefox other than for the very few stubborn pages that only work with IE.

But I guess I shouldn't try too hard to convince you, as long as IE remains the most popular browser it'll remain the most targeted one (as in targeted by hackers to exploit it and other browser programmers to make a better solution, ie Mozilla), for that I thank you for your own stubbornness
