Then you're well off.

No, saying you have to pay loans on those 2 Mercedes doesn't count.

Depends on where you live. Some parts of the country, $100K would allow you to live like a king...while other parts, $100K is barely subsistence wages when you take the total cost of living into account...Mercedes or no Mercedes...

Totally depends on your location and situation.

If you live in bumfuck America, and single, then 100k is very good.

If you have a (house)wife and 2 kids with a mortgage in a high cost area, you will have a pretty mediocre life (material wise).

I make about as much as a plumber and a nurse combined. But my wife doesn't work...and I've got 4 kids, and I live in a high COL area.

But relative to the rest of the world, I'm VERY well off.

We make a bit more than that and are far from driving two Mercedes around.

We have a house and share a Honda Fit between us. A mortgage, car payment, utilities, student loans, etc will take up alot more than you would think.

$50k is still a fairly comfortable lifestyle for a single person in many parts of the country.

my parents make a pretty good more than that combined and I wouldn't consider them "well off" for north jersey, more like on the lower end of upper-middle class. :p
