Obviously there are some jerks in the office, but it looks like the delivery driver was wrong too. It doesn't show exactly what happened when they originally handed him the money, but he says he didn't give them change because they didn't ask for it...you never take their change unless they clearly indicate that you should.

He's also being petulant and argumentative- he could have handed the man the money and just walked out, but instead he starts complaining. In fact, at the beginning of this video, you might say HE is harassing THEM. That is not how you behave in the service business, and if he behaved like this at other times, he would not work for me for very long.

From what I heard, the Driver pointed out that they gave him an extra $5 bill when he made the Delivery and no one seemed to care. So he assumed it was part of the Tip.

Yeah, that part is important to what happened. I don't know whether they pretended to tip and took it back, just weren't counting, he left without making sure...it's not on the video. But I see how he reacted to the situation, and I'm not impressed.

Car salesmen really do deserve their reputation as sleezy scumbags. Dealt with a lot of them when I was renting cars. Can count on one hand how many were pleasent. Some were just downright mean for no reason. I used to call it "failing your way to the top", because they think they're the hot shit despite being stuck in a dead end job.

Maybe the pizza guy didn't ask if they wanted change. Still doesn't deserve that kind of treatment though. People love to verbally berate minimum wage employees. Makes them feel good about themselves for a few minutes, and distracts them from their own shitty powerless life.

That's the smoking gun in this. If the bill is $43 and you had nothing but $20s and $5s you would hand the guy two $20s and ONE $5 if you did not intend to leave a tip. Handing over the 2nd $5 you clearly meant it to be a tip. If they meant to not tip they would have paid differently and if there was a question of change like a $5 tip instead of $7 they would have asked for a couple of bucks back right then and there, not wait until he left and then call him back. It's very possible that the people in the office did this on purpose and wanted to fuck with the driver as part of the bad blood between the two businesses. They wanted to get their jollies jerking him around and it came back to bite them on the ass.

You're right, why would a pizza delivery driver not be totally pleasant about returning when he alleges that the people told him it was a tip.

We're seeing how the dealership is responding and if you are more willing to take their version of events than his, then I don't even know what to say.

Looks like pizza dude is getting some big fat tip after all. Nice :D

http://www.gofundme.com/xx9js?fb_action_ids=1001771459852130

I really don't get the point of doing this. The dude works in a customer-facing job and had a shitty customer... welcome to the real world? You'll have customers who treat you well and those that treat you like scum. I'm glad the scummy bastards got what was coming to them, but to give the guy $20,000? Hell, I tip well (usually between 25-30%), but fuck that.... Call me heartless, but it's not like the guy was set to financial ruin because of this event... he was out $7. o_O

I think that's how you know that someone is truly a dick - they present evidence of their dickishness, thinking they are in the right. They have no clue.

I don't remember this part. Did I miss something? I remember him saying why he thought it was a tip- that's not the same thing.

I said I didn't know what happened, not that I was believing the dealership.

You're pretty much taking the dealerships side on this, or at least coming off as though you are. Take a lesson from the very story you are commenting on. Shut up and don't post supporting assholes if you don't want to be thought of as an asshole. You're just digging yourself a deeper hole. Sorry.

Back to the story, they gave him two $20s and two $5s for a $43 bill. Why include the extra $5 if they expected him to hand it right back? My guess is they were dicking with him because the pizza place says they have had issues with the dealership on previous deliveries.

Yes, the driver could have said "do you want your change?", but even if it he didn't it doesn't call for them abusing him like they did and then trying to get him fired. The driver sounded pretty calm and reasonable to me with his argument and reasoning. The dealership crew acted like asshats. They wanted him to have to drive back on his own dime and bend the knee before them with a refund. Bad people get off treating other folks that way.

When the owner posted the video to gloat he was pouring the cement onto his own grave. Now he's lied about what happened and hopes he can pay the guy off to salvage his apparently shady business. Fvck him.

I like this kind of Internet Mob Justice so much I almost want to thank Al Gore for inventing it.

Waaaaaaay back in my first post, I said the dealership were being jerks. If you can't read and want to put words in my mouth, that's not my problem.

Well, you said enough stuff since then in support of the dealership that I don't even remember the small disclaimer you put it at the beginning. Sorry if I misunderstood what you were saying.

Even if he didn't ask if they wanted change, nothing was stopping them for asking for it.

Let's explain it to you in detail. Because you seem to be no more intelligent that that crew of misfits at the car dealership:

If the total was $42 and someone handed you $45, you'd ask if they wanted change. If someone handed you two $20 bills and two $5 bills, you would rightly assume that they intended to tip you $8. Otherwise, why the extra $5 bill? If you don't have the math skills of an 8 year-old, you don't turn around and complain about it. You get some remedial education help.

He's also being petulant and argumentative- he could have handed the man the money and just walked out, but instead he starts complaining.

You mean the part where he says "I'm not mad"? You mean where he tries to explain by starting with "I don't understand why..."?

In fact, at the beginning of this video, you might say HE is harassing THEM. That is not how you behave in the service business, and if he behaved like this at other times, he would not work for me for very long.

So you're a douchebag too? Big surprise. The world is full of douchebags.

First, there is nothing about this video that would ever lead me to take the dealerships side in any of this discussion. I don't even understand how one could go down that path if they actually watched the video and listened to what the guy was saying.

Second, it's interesting to me that the sales manager apologizes and mentions the female has been fired but apparently he is still the sales manager. Could be wrong on this but I read earlier that the sales manager is the guy who was saying 'get them on the phone, i want him fired, hah, etc.'.

Just because you are in the service industry doesn't mean that you should be expected to take abuse.

Let's look at what really happened. The pizza guy just wanted to explain. Didn't want them thinking he ran off with the money. Any decent person would want to clear their intentions. They basically accused him of running off with the money. That's a stab at your decency and character.

The dealers were total morons and screwed up not thinking about it or adding at all. After the pizza guy left they thought, woe man did we give him $7 tip?? No way he deserves that much, dur. So the cheapskates call him back and are now mad and projecting their stupidity on the pizza guy and blaming him for taking off with it. Feeling like they got duped or something. Not wanting to come to terms that they were the fools.

When he arrives he just wants to explain that he's not a thief or anything. But in so doing the dealers for one take great offense that this lowly pizza guy is daring to explain himself to them. They feel they are better. And two, they are inadvertently proven to be idiots which infuriates them and they get a mob mentality/tribal thing going and gang up on him.

If you notice the one bald guy tries to say something like 'oh it's like at the grocery store when you give the cashier some change to get back an even amount'. lol ok dummy. That's when you give them an extra 10 cents to bring it to an even dollar on 90 cents change or something. How the flip does giving him 5 extra dollars going to do that?? So the pizza guy is like reasoning with them, that it does no good to give the extra $5 because he'd have to give it right back if he was expecting change. It doesn't round anything up in any way. Being proven a moron instead of being humble the dealer goes nuts. And the rest of the morons can't figure it out either and just take offense at being confronted with logic they don't understand.

At no point was the pizza guy wrong. Always stand up for yourself. No one has the right to crap on you.

All of this, but especially the bolded part. Nothing pisses a meathead off more than being faced with the fact that he's a meathead.
