Why the hell are you cooking your own steak if you can afford to burn money?

Not to hijack the thread but I have always been in the "cooking over coins tastes better" camp. It doesn't get as hot so it requires more time but you get a much more natural flavor than with bills.

Yeah, "paper" money's not really paper. Wouldn't last a year if it was, ya know?

OP, the original question is how much cash money you need to BBQ a steak. I counter with these questions:
1. Is the money bundled, rolled, or loose?? If your cash is loose, it burns faster, and likely hotter. Rolled would probably burn slowest, while stacked (bundled) would be slow as well, though the edges would burn quickly and the banded center slower.
2. How large is your barbeque grill? We talking a full sized kettle grill, a mini kettle, or a hibachi? How about those $5 grills you get a Walmart, that are about the size of a hubcap, and only an inch and a half deep? Cuz the bigger the grill, the more money it's going to take to grill that steak!
3. How did you want your steak done? If you're a "gotta be charcoal" type steak lover, it's probably going to cost much more than if you're a "if it don't moo, it's overdone!" type of griller. This is important.
4. Finally, what denominations are we talking about? Can we get away with Geo. Washingtons? Or has it gotta be the Benjamins?? Come on, man! This is important!!! ;)

Finally someone that takes this "seriously".

1. I don't think it matters as long as the steak tastes good. Which one would be best for a nice medium rare steak? I would assume bundled or rolled burns hotter (steak = just slightly burned on the outside and nice pink in the center)?
2. A nice medium sized grill so you can do 2-4 steaks at a time - no sense being cheap about the whole thing and not inviting friends for dinner.
3. Medium rare - just slightly burned
4. Wouldn't you burn through the Washingtons faster? ;) I would go for a nice mix of different presidents.

First get one of these . I had one when I was a kid and it actually works great. It needs ~20 pages of balled up newspaper for one grill of meat, so that would be like 400 balled up bills I'm guessing. Denominations are up to you. ;)

Oh and balled up bills tossed loosely into the grill will burn hotter as more oxygen gets to each bill. Tightly packed or rolled up bills would burn cooler and longer.
