If we can send a man to the moon, why can't we ban internet porn?

Iceland wants to ban Internet porn

Iceland is working on banning Internet pornography, calling explicit online images a threat to children.

'"There is a strong consensus building in Iceland," Halla Gunnarsdottir, an adviser to the nation's Interior Minister, told England's Daily Mail. "We have so many experts, from educationalists to the police and those who work with children behind this, that this has become much broader than party politics.

"At the moment, we are looking at the best technical ways to achieve this. But surely if we can send a man to the moon, we must be able to tackle porn on the Internet."

Interior Minister Ogmundur Jonasson has appointed committees to study the best methods for keeping young people from seeing explicit images and videos on computers, game consoles and smartphones.

The options being considered, according to the Daily Mail, include blocking the IP addresses of known porn sites and making it illegal to use credit cards from Iceland to subscribe to X-rated sites.

Yeah, I know, this could have a chilling effect on Internet freedom.
I just want to know what Icelanders are expected to do during the long cold winter without porn.

Only terrorists look at porn. The safest thing for the children is to ban it, and thwart terrorism. Iceland is truly progressive, and oddly more American than Americans are.

first step they will take on banning porn is restricting what you can see.

No women with under a B-cup (people will think of children (btw this is a excuse one country has)) or women above a C-cup (really more then a handful is overkill. nobody needs that big a tit).

then they will ban positions and if they are shaved!

WE NEED TO STOP THIS SLIPPERY SLOPE NOW!

Population of Iceland is 319k.

More people that that live in dry counties in Arkansas alone. (And choose to, and voted to keep them that way, etc.)

On one hand, as a small country (community) with a fairly homogenous culture, I say let 'em do what they want. It has no bearing on me here.

On the other hand, I doubt it will be terribly effective.

Sounds like we should carpet bomb small communities. They are a threat to freedom.

Mmhmm. This is the road we're on. THINK OF THE CHILDREN!! Is the new battle cry of those that want to control and dictate to others. First they came for our free speech, then our guns, now our porn.

Im still waiting for a logical explanation on the whole "mature content" thing (in every kind of media)

Seriously, what happens if a kid sees a nipple? Do they become rapists or something?
Oh wait that cant be, since they used to SUCK on one when they were newborn (zomg fetish pr0nz)

It has to be one of the most absolutely retarded concepts humanity has come up with so far, and it gets especially hilarious when you consider many parents get their panties in a bunch if a kid watches porn, but they let them watch violent movies with blood and corpses everywhere

Sometimes Im ashamed of being part of the same species
