For instance lets say they came and instead of leaving the package at the door, they dropped it off at the post office will the update the tracking page with that information?

i didn't think they even did that. every time i wasn't home they came back the next day...

Yes. It will show up as an exception or they will tell you the location where they left the package.

It will show on the tracking page that a delivery attempt was made. Plus they'll leave a little sticky on the door. Then they'll come back tomorrow. You can sign the sticky and have them leave it at the door, if thats an option on the sticky. Otherwise you have to call them up and arrange to pick it up at their local office, which is a pain in the arse.

I always have UPS deliver to my work address. It's a lot less hassle.
