Even if I was a millionare, I wouldnt spend 10 grand on any computer.

My dream specs usually consist of the following:

Fastest CPU for games.
Fastest Video Card for games.
Max out Memory on Mainboard(Usually 4GB)
Moderate out of storage space/ SATA Raid.
DVD Burner + 2xDVD-CDRW(Since games require discs in drive)
Nice 21'-22' Aperature Grille CRT

I would add 512MB of RAM to my current comp, get a 9800P, and either save the rest or spend it on a big plasma HDTV.

EDIT: BTW, you can't have 10GB in that mobo.

1x Apple Cinema Display, big wide srceen LCD.
1x 21" Trinitron for gaming.
1x mesh chair (Can't remember who makes them, but the seat and back are just taught plastic mesh)
1x Audigy2 w/ the real break-out box.
1x SCSI controller
1x Fujitsu MAS 73GB drive.
1x long SCSI cable, so the drive can sit in a closet, away from the PC.
For the case and such, I'd just buy an ARM Stealth, fully loaded.

...anything more would be 100% wasted. it should go to a sound system, which could be fed from the Audigy.

I know Tyan has a quad opteron board coming out (with PCI X), I'd got that
then 4 x fastest opterons I can find
4GB of ram should be enough,
an ATI 800XT PCI Express version (since im pretty sure this mobo doesn't have AGP)
I'd buy a nice bid hi res display (say ... for $2 to $3 grand)
I'd go with a full sized wide "cube shaped" server case,
I'd get a nice U320 SCSI RAID card
I'd purchase between 4 and 8 10K SCSI drives for my raid array (either raid 5 or 1+0, for my boot partition, games, and program files)
I'd fill up any remaininy 3.5in slots with 250 or 300GB IDE drives ... for cheap storage

You're a fool for going with a single FX53.

Get some kind of dual processor setup, or more.
1TB WD Raptor? Give me a break.
$10,000 = SCSI land. 15k all the way.
Water cooling?
Prometia I think. (ie: not watercooling)

I would spend about 1-1.5K on the box, a few hundred on some excellent speakers, and a kickass 21"+ monitor for another $500-1000. I would take another 1.5K to give my car another 60 or so horsepower at the crank. Then, I would save the rest. No need to spend 10K on a computer.

Edit- 1 tb of raptors? How many PCI SATA cards would you need for that?

That sounds pretty sweet. See if I had a couple mil...I would create my own mobo to run 4 fx-53s on it. :)

I suspect U would put stuff in his own computer, not Ur's. Out of curiosity, where are U and Ur from? Those are very interesting names.

I'd probably buy a car, then decide it wasn't made for the inside of a computer.

Otherwise, a nice 30" lcd and a new alienware Alx, just to say i have it.

Thunder K8W - $436
2x Opteron 250 Retail - $875 - $1705
4x Corsair XMS 2gig (1gigx2) Twin Pack Registered, 8 gig total - $693 - $2772
LSI MegaRAID SCSI 320-1 PCI-X - $389
3x Segate 73gig 15,000rpm SCSI320 drives - $529 - $1587 (RAID 5 Baby)
2x Maxtor 250gig 7,200rpm SATA drives - $207 - $414 (For Storage)
Radeon X800 Pro - $459
M-Audio Revo 7.1 - $99 (Gaming sys, not for recording)
2x Plextor 12x DVD+-R 8mb - $190 - $380 (Why not?)

For monitors? Either:
2x SAMSUNG 192N-Black 19" LCD Monitor - $579 - $1158

Total = $9,399 (without case/PS)

or if we are really going crazy

1x SAMSUNG 192N-Black 19" LCD Monitor - $579
AND
NEC PX-42XM2A 42" Plasma Monitor - $4,020

Total - $12,840

Another option would be a crazy water cooling/freezing OC rig to go for the all time 3dmark03 record, heh. ;) I stuck to stuff already available at Newegg only (otherwise i would have put a 6800 U in instead).

Unless you are so ridiculously rich it hurts, this is a total waste of money, though.

Buy a $1500-2K laptop and put the rest of the money in a savings account, then repurchase a new laptop every 2-3 years, until the money is depleted. That way I reap the benefits of the current hardware specs and have portability (important for me). Anything you buy for 10k these days will just be a pile of junk in the near future. Look at all those old 386 systems out there, they were once over 5k easily and now you have to pay someone to haul it away for you.

I am with you

Any hardware that is just just below the top of the line stuff is adequate for every game available today, and when a game comes along that makes your system stumble a bit, you buy new, again.

LSI MegaRAID SCSI 320-1 PCI-X - $389

The 320-1 is actually 64/66, not PCI-X. The 320-2X is what you want.

Some of the systems (8 way) cost way more than ten grand. Now if you add another zero you can start to talk. :)

Cheers!
