What? Trump is a terrible person, anyone can see that. His policies... are all over the place, hard to say what he'd do. Some of it is good, some of it bad, and too much is dog whistle to get votes.
Having the nation shocked out of the status quo, and its decade (or two) long malaise could be very important for moving us forward, for convincing Congress to make this country governable again. First they unite under a common cause. Then we see how the parties shape up in 2020, cause that primary challenge would be an amazing watershed moment in American politics. Unless he's impeached first.
Oh, and maybe you missed last week.
It may work to the extent that this country will hit rock bottom under Trump and finally discredit Republican policies and result in a New Deal 2.0, which the financial crisis did not result in. Meaning Trump will burn it down, but Democrats will rebuild it the way we see fit.I'm curious, can you point to examples in history in which a "burn it all down and rebuild" strategy worked for other governments or our own? And if you can cite examples what was the time frame from burning to rebuilding complete?
Do you think he can play more golf than Obama? Now that would be a huge accomplishment.I assume Trump will likely rubber-stamp everything that the Republican Congress passes unless it's related to the small handful of issues he actually cares about (no free trade, immigration)... Mike Pence and Trump's Cabinet will likely be expected to manage all operations while Trump flies around the world and enjoys the publicity.
The nightmare would be his religious fucktard running mate. That guy is certifiable. Fortunately it's still looking like a near certain loss for Trump. The polls tightened like they do right before the election date and he is still running a decent deficit in EC numbers. After he loses I expect he'll claim rigging and all sorts of conspiracies. Hopefully he goes fully off the deep end in inciting people to action to the point it warrants arresting him and tossing him in a cell.

If Trump is elected, 2020 could be a disaster for the GOP across the board, just in time for post-sensus redistricting, and wipe out GOP's structural advantage in the House.
If Obamacare is repealed and Medicaid is block-granted and reduced, that's tens of millions of new uninsured, a vacuum that creates demand for universal single payer.
SCOTUS is going to be problematic, but with a solid Democrat Congress and GOP opening the Pandora's box of politicizing the bench through obstruction, there are levers to put it in line.

Nowhere near as many as Ike or Wilson. What's your point anyway? Why not compare vacation days taken instead?Do you think he can play more golf than Obama? Now that would be a huge accomplishment.
Interesting, it's like a phoenix returning to ashes.History tells us that a political party like the current Republican party (or like the Whig party before it) will die and a new one will be replaced by an even more extreme version of what we have now (see the know nothing party that lasted 16 years), followed by a new party that brings back sanity (ironically, it was the Republican party that was born after the demise of the know nothing party).
Spooky!Secret societies are going to run the country. Trump, Clinton these people are chosen not elected.
You're exactly right. You can be sarcastic all you want but it isn't going to change anything. OMG Hilary Clinton email scandal as if she's going to spend 1 day in prison.
It's just one big fucking show.
I seem to have located a crystal ball and have looked into the future where I was able to see the answer to this and many other questions by finding him at a cabinet meeting. So lets review....
President Donald Trump promises to build a yuge wall.
President Donald Trump promises to round up Hispanics, prove their citizenship, and deport millions of illegals.
President Donald Trump promises to halt and block all Muslims from entering our country.
President Donald Trump promises to police all mosque's within our country.
President Donald Trump promises to kill Obamacare in its sleep tossing millions off their healthcare.
President Donald Trump promises to force hard hat industry back to the United States.
President Donald Trump promises to deregulate the banks and repeal all current banking regulation.
President Donald Trump promises to give more tax breaks to people of extreme wealth.
President Donald Trump promises to kill off the EPA plus environmental regulations because there is no such animal as climate change.
President Donald Trump promises to stop black crime by turning communities into a police state.
And so on and so on.
I.e. google president Donald Trump promises to....
However as president elect, Donald Trump would be just that, president and not dictator.
So the next question has to be, what happens when even a republican congress might have different plans than those of president Donald Trump?
Will a republican congress go along with the wall?
Go along with rounding up and deporting millions of Hispanics?
Go along with banning Muslims from entering the United States?
Go along with massive taxation on goods entering the United States?
Hell.... when it comes right down to it, would even a republican congress actually repeal Obamacare and toss millions off their healthcare? And risk shaking the national economy to its very core?
Just where will they draw that line in the sand?
When and who will it be from that republican congress to inform president Donald Trump that his goals are not necessarily their goals?
Because lets face it. All the republican establishment wanted from candidate Donald Trump was to control the US Supreme Court for the next four years.
After that? Republicans in congress have little use for Donald Trump.
Will republican leadership have that Howard Beale "Network" moment with newly president elect Donald Trump?
Who will it be to inform president Donald Trump in a one on one face to face... that,
"YOU have meddled with the primal forces of nature Mr Trump, and YOU... WILL... ATONE!"
