My wife had teachers in high school named, no joke: Richard Head, Richard Bender, Mike Ratch (rhymes with "crotch"), and Jim Kloes (pronounced like "gym clothes," and he was the gym teacher).

If my name was horribly embarrassing I'd probably just use my middle name. If it was bad enough I guess I'd change it but it seems like a lot of trouble unless it's REALLY bad.
