Well, honestly I've had a problem with it: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=27&threadid=1349452

I rma'd the board last week and newegg received it last Thursday. I'm expecting the replacement mobo the early part of next week.

Also, I think I've changed my mind on the video card. I had originally wanted the Ati x800 xt pe, but considering doom3 is openGL and another game I want to play supports PS3.0, I'm gonna go with the 6800U.

I am not sure what all the fuss is about. People buy BMW's and Porshe's and Corvettes and Vipers when a Saturn would have the same functionality. Gets you from here to there. Enjoy life and have fun playing on his new rig. My suggestion. Get a phase change and overclock the hell out of that FX-53 and put a waterblock on the graphics card (only the 6800Ultra Supreme edition will do) volt mod it and overclock the hell out of that to.

Oh, wait. That is my delusional dream sorry.

Anyway, don't get the 6800GT if money is not an issue, get the 6800Ultra Supreme or x800xt

Good luck :) You need at least 512mb videocard to play at the highest settings, and I am betting at least 2 gigs of RAM and 4.5gig+

PC Gamer reviewed with 3.0ghz p4 and 6800Ultra and they were only able to enable AA/AF at 1024x768

not that i am talking sh*t with my 8500 lol

Oh no!!! you save 5 seconds of your life by loading UT2k4 level with a raptor drive... But you lose about 3 times the space in the process....for the same $$$

That is a nice rig provided you will take advantage of the unlocked multiplier and run this baby at 2.8+ghz. Then surely it will be the king of performance that no 3800+ can match.

The OCZ EB memory that has been recommended is a much better choice because with higher FSB it will offer more performance because that is the beauty of enhanced bandwidth as has been proven by Anandtech.

If you want a beautiful case, any case from Falcon is way better, but I am not sure if you can just order them with their stunning paintjobs by themselves. I like the cooler master praetorian atc201 case or ATC210 as well.

I personally think getting a 6800GT will not do this rig justice, if you are going for top of the line components.

Otherwise this rig is pretty much the fastest stock comp you can get. Imagine the possibilities with something like Vapochill.....

I think what everyone is trying to tell you is that the price difference to go from 95% performance of this rig to your rig is not worth it. But of course no one can decide that but your friend. From a logical or "smart consumer" stand point, sure, it doesn't make any sense. But then again, if he can easily afford it, why not? Hey it's not my money....

The Mushkin memory I chose should do 260MHz with little to no voltage increase with tighter timing than the OCZ. ;)

Falcon uses the case I listed. ;)

Let me know where I can buy a 6800 Ultra now, and I'll buy it instead. ;)

My favorite case is the one on the new Dual G5 Mac. I'm sure you can't get one for PC, but there's probably a hack out there. :)

As for all the negative comments telling you that it's a poor value, just ignore them. They do not understand the context of this thread. As others have said, it's like buying a Ferrari. Of course it's a poor value, but you simply want the best.

you are right, all the 6800u are on pre-order

This one wil be available in just 4 days though - Link

With shipping then it shouldn't take more than 5-6 days and it comes iwth Far Cry

I am sure 1 week is worth waiting for, if price is not a concern, and performance here is SOLID!

Lol. Buyxtremegear.com. What a bunch of chumps. They keep pushing back their "ETA Dates" on all high end cards. First it was June 30, then July 4, then 14, then 21, you get the picture.

I wouldn't expect that date to hold true given their previous track record.

Sure, you can do 260MHz at what voltage? like 3.8 volts???
