If this is the new trend ..we may never need to upgrade.

Of course there will be reasons to upgrade. There will still be great PC exclusives that push the hardware and even many ports wil be optimized for PC's and push the hardware. PC gaming will never die. They say every year it's dying.

Never said PC gaming was dying . Just seems like more and more games are ports or dont really need anything more then a gtx 260/5770.

Crysis 2 at the end of the year? anything else?

and yet you know AC2 is going to have horrible performance on the PC... even after the long-ass delay and DX9. I can tell already.

If anything, consoles are slowly becoming more like PCs. Eventually it will only be PC gaming.

When the next generation of Consoles rolls out, we'll see all the technology gains made by PC's incorporated into consoles and suddenly there will be a huge step up.

True, but the consoles don't upgrade for another 2 years at best.:\

I miss the great games. I mean Crysis is allmost 3 years old right?
I play racing and fps. MW2 and Wolfenstein were good games ,but MW2 was over before it began. Wolfenstein I'm still playing and it's a good game.

I remember playing Half-life 2 and saying wow this is great. Havent done that since Crysis Warhead.

The game I play most is still CSS and it runs at 270fps.

THAT is why they delayed the PC version from November to March? So they can give PC users nothing more?? I figured they'd at least put some DX11 effects in there with the delay. How lame.

i believe they're at least throwing in the DLC for free..

Never need to upgrade? Judging from NVs product schedule I'd say they agree with you!

Between renaming older parts and never releasing the newer ones, you could be on to something :D.

In all seriousness though, don't pay $50 for the game then. I know I won't. There are more than enough games out there right now that developers have put in the time and effort in order to maximize my enjoyment on the PC. I recently played through ME2 once (and will definitely be playing through again), and now I'm playing STALKER: CoP and Global Agenda and I also have have already bought BF:BC2. I'm still waiting on a sale for Bioshock 2, AvP, and I guess now AC2.

Mabe I missed something? I played Stalker for about an hour and it was boring.
I'll try it again. I paid 5 bucks for it.

I really don't play Rpg or Adventure games.
ON my drive right now are...

Crysis (good)
Crysis Warhead (great)
MW2 (good but short)
Modern Warfare (good)
WAW (ok)
Wolfenstein (good so far)
Need for speed shift (good)
Grid (good)
Dirt 2 (ok)
Left for Dead (repedative)
Left for Dead 2 (more of the same)
Far Cry 2 (good)
Flatout Ultimate Carnage (fun)
MOH Airbourn (good)
Resident Evil 5 (sucked)
Half life 2 (great)
eposode 1 (getting old)
and 2 (boring)
Stalker (boring)
CSS (great)
Bioshock (lost interest)
Assassins Creed (Not my cup of tea)

I played through FEAR ..FEAR 2 any good?

Is there anything I missed? I Played most of these games @ 1600x1200 high detail.

Anything comming thats gonna make me want to upgrade?

Crysis 2 and BFBC2 will need a reasonably fast system, as well as Doom 4 and Rage when they comes out, don't forget Duke Nukem Forever will need a super-fast PC to play it on :p

Seems like you enjoy your standard FPS's. The STALKER series are for more patient players who want to live in and experience the game world, and tend to offer much more RPG-type elements in that respect (although the gun play is still quite good). If you don't say (at least to yourself) "WOOHOO" when you find a killer stash tucked away in some remote, monster-infested region, well, best look elsewhere. Although if you are playing STALKER: SoC now, I recommend applying the "STALKER Complete 2009" mod http://artistpavel.blogspot.com/2009/04/stalker-complete-2009.html - it completely updates the experience.

If you have friends to play with, both Killing Floor and Borderlands are great co-op FPS games (although Borderlands offers more of the RPG-type play, which might not be your cup of tea). I suppose BF:BC2 might be the next great multiplayer FPS.

Bad Company 2 hates my GTX 295, I can't even play the beta above 30fps on medium settings :(

I still haven't played Crysis, I need to get around to that.

EDIT: Just bought it on Steam, actually :D

Thanks , BFBC2 looks like a great game. Rage don't look too bad.

Bad company 2 will give me a reason to buy a 5830, I hope.

Just a heads up, BC2 is having major problems with the latest Nvidia hardware, if you need another reason to go ATI. Hopefully they'll have it ironed out by release :(

My trusty 4850 and E7300 @ 3.2 ghz have allowed me to comfortably game for a little over a year and a half, even with my transition from 1280x1024 -> 1920x1080. My rig cost me $500 bucks.

While I understand that some would really like to see games that provide an excuse to upgrade, as a value gamer I've really enjoyed this trend. I don't mind riding on the coat-tails of consoles, despite my love of new computer tech.

"Must justify black box worth more than my first car!"

(searches closet for most demanding games of yesterday)

(grumbles something about console ports, DX9, no AA..)

Assassins Creed 2 direct x 9 ,and a direct port from console.:\

Alan Wake will not happen on PC

I bought another 5870 today as it has become clear that Fermi is completely pointless to wait for.

There will never be a need to another GPU until these ... literally... die.

Star Craft II and Diablo III @ 100FPS here I come (I don't foresee any other good PC games coming out in the next few years)

AvP is out this week. The demo even with low textures looked fantastic. If anything, it will be stunning in dx11 and eyeinfinity (aliens with their wallhack vision on 3 screens? heck thats uber cheating heh). Consoles get it too, but PC gaming is definitely superior.

Bad Company 2 next month, another excellent title that will push your GPU to the limit with high res PC textures and 8x AA. Not to mention eyeinfinity and the huge advantage you get in fps games being able to see sides.

Supreme Commander 2 next month, Starcraft 2 a few months later. Diablo 3.

Then Final Fantasy 14 MMO end of the year, with its stunning graphics, it will be a real treat for PC users.

Im sure there are heaps of other titles out that are great for the PC gamer. If a certain developer are happy with just porting console games.. dont buy it. Teach them a lesson, stay out of PC gaming if they dont want to try harder. I could care less if they go sorely for consoles, there's always other developers that make great PC games.
