Yeah, same here.
Back in the 80s, I interviewed a number of German veterans for a book that never got off the ground.... er word processor. Unfortunately, many of the old vets are now deceased.
But the stories they had to tell! Wow! Shared a glass or two (or in some cases 20) of Bier with the old vets and every one of them opened up with remarkable insight. Only Werner, a former FW-190 pilot was arrogant about the whole thing. That was, until he was planning to fly to Miami to visit his sister 😉 Then he opened up with some incredible, yet believable experiences.
All of the German vets from the Third Reich were proud, brave men fighting for their country. And every single one of them (about 125) admired the USA. Even the former officers.
To me, there is nothing wrong with that forum. Looks like a bunch of history buffs with a few on the fringe hanging out.
