Many doorbells do not even work.

yep...had to resort to knocking many-a-times.

I can't hear my doorbell when I'm blasting the TV with some movie or sports and people are over. Happened twice already. People ended up calling my cell.

I normally knock, depending on how Loud I want to be;
I am sure I can make more noise, or less,
than most doorbells.

;)

30% of the time, the doorbell doesn't work

How exact is that figure? I'm going to need charts and graphs to back it up.

In our case, I think people don't see ours since they're kind of in an odd spot :(

i live in an apartment, i cant tell sometimes if i hear the bell , that if someone is downstairs asking to be let in or if they're outside my door

knocking actually helps me. unless some freak can knock so hard that it can be heard 3 floors up

I may be a minority, but in every house I've lived in and every close relative's house I've been do, the doorbells have either not worked, not worked well or worked intermittently. I tend to knock, though I do it assertively, something you'll definitely hear.
