Wouldn't worry about the draft coming back. Army Times indicates that most young people are ineligible anyway...

To be fair, that illegal drug use number would be closer to 4-5% if we legalised marijuana.

I can't join up because of my medical cannabis, even considered airforce for awhile, but they tell you if you have used marijunana more than a 5 times or some shit then you can't join. (most people who have used drugs end up lying to cover their asses, but meh)

As an officer...
Back in college I received some stuff about becoming a nuke officer. :p

However in truth I would be disqualified for service on medical grounds.

Sorry about your medical condition but using marijuana didn't keep people I knew out of the Air Force. But that was a while ago... While I wasn't in the Air Force, I doubt that its use would keep most people from accomplishing their missions.

With the budget decreasing, I'd expect that to be reflected in the size of the military.

SecDef is talking about 'involuntary separation' (i.e. laying off soldiers. Like a draft in reverse.). But its hard to separate what he really means from what he postures for congressional ears.

Navy Captain, preferably one with a submarine armed with nuclear weapons to squash my Liberal enemies.

For those that don't know - Combat Engineer's are on the front lines. They clear minefields, breach obstacles, and set up bridges.

Not all Engineers are REMF's

Depends on the map really, but my favorite classes in BF2 are engineer and anti-tank. In TF2, it is pyro and engineer, so I picked engineer. :p

Let me spell it out for you all.
If you never served, you're a pussy.
If you didn't have a Combat MOS, you're a pussy.

Let me guess you googled combat engineer and that's what came up.

Though I guess if a real war broke out we may have been able to do some of that. Though I will admit about 4 weeks out of my 4+years as a 12b the training was a blast.

As far as the poll I'd love to be a sniper, though these days I doubt I could make it past the training.

Most of you guys saying the Navy wanted you for Nuke were being lied to. They know most would not pass the tests needed and would have been already enlisted. Promising you the moon and nothing is guaranteed.

I scored a 99%ile score across the board. They called me throughout most of my early college years.

Probably go for some engineer position if I was forced into the military. I don't think I'd meet the requirements, or they'd "overlook" a possible issue, finish busting my shoulder, then send me home without fixing it

My brother was in the navy for 6 years. Was a nuke on an aircraft carrier. 6 years of military nonsense was enough for him and he's been out now for several years. Now he works for a company that provides the navy with parts, thanks to the training/experience/etc from being a nuke in the navy. Kind of funny how that works.

Well, you got me beat. I only served 3yrs as a 12B, so that 1+ year over me must have been the experience I missed out on that led you to be such a expert. LOL!

Drew a low number in the first draft lottery. Shortly after that, I volunteered for the draft.

Without asking, got sent to the MP Academy where they prepped us for convoy escort work. Though, I never got to do that... Instead, I went to USARPAC Basic Sentry Dog School. Spent 15 Months and 28 Days working nights on a jungle perimeter walking a German Shepherd trained to kill everyone in the world except me ...

Don't recall anyone ever asking me what I wanted to do. Wouldn't have mattered, would have answered that I wanted to be a civilian. (Though, working with that dog was likely the finest thing that I have ever done...)

That's not a problem, 4.7 million is hell of an army.

Lucky for me my job precludes me from being drafted. If I was drafted anyway, I'll probably want something like aircraft maintenance or something else technical.
