Yes (with the assumption that everyone will automatically know how to use a gun and that the gun has infinite or excess supply of bullets). The bad guys ALREADY HAVE GUNS. Now the playing field is evened out a bit. Even then, people that get a gun but don't want it can sell it for something else, basically free money.

exactly. disarming the populace only gives criminals further advantage. an armed society is a polite one.

Why would thousands be saved? Everyone would be on a level ground everyone would have guns, victims and attackers.

Victims whom would otherwise have been killed, now have the ability to defend themselves, giving the already armed second thoughts on committing their agenda.

People in tense situations would all be armed.

People too young or inexperienced to use a gun responsibly would have them.
