No. I plan to drive some day from IL to FL then to Maine and then through canada to Alaska, and then down to CA along the west coast, and finally through the desert states and into New Orleans and thet back home to IL. But, that's only if I can afford to retire some day and can take like 6 months for a road trip of that scale. Otherwise, my limit is about 1000 miles 1 way.

Had a couple of friends do VA to CA via the lower tier of states, up to WA then across the upper tier back to VA. In 30 days. On motorcycles. One on a BMW R75/5, one on a Honda CB 500.

They were hammered when they got back.

What country is the other end of the bridge connected to?

I imagine that would depend on which ocean, and whether they went with the shortest land to land distances, or where it would be most practical. I guess including the word practical in this ridiculous hypothetical is disingenuous, though.

You're as clueless as he is. You probably don't know Godzilla has been attacking Japan regularly for years either.

Are you saying that it was Godzilla in an iceberg suit that took down the Titanic? Or are you clueless to not get what I was referencing when I said "unsinkable boat".

I'm going to need data to back up that Godzilla can deal with Atlantic waters...

edit:
FWIW: The shortest Atlantic crossing is only 1600 miles, which I have done in one trip several times, but the problem would be driving to South America to get that shortest 1600 mile crossing...

yep, driving across [nothing but] water will be boring.

may be an under ground/water glass tube rail system along the ocean floor will be more interesting? it will be completely dark unless there are some lights along the way.

,.. no fucking way.

I don't even like being on a airplane for more than 6 hours. It's just uncomfortable. Even in 1st Class. I took a flight to Hong Kong; 16 hours, reclining chair, etc,... it didn't matter. It was still uncomfortable.

Frankly, I would love a twin size bed, able to lay flat down, to be OK with flying for that long.

But, yeah, 3 damn days of just driving,... across a seemingly never ending ocean; no.

I can only imagine how sore/tired/beat they would be. That said, I'm sure they would not trade those memories for anything in the world.

Did you ever see the "Long Way Down" or "Long way Round" miniseries with Ewan McGregor & Charlie Boorman? The series covered their bike trips across vast swaths of the world... incredibly amazing!

I think a bike would be great, but, Ideally, I'd be traveling in something more comfortable. I'm not willing to go without things like Air Conditioning :)

The engineering feat required to pull that off would be well beyond anything we are capable of at this point in our evolution.

Same answer for this.

hell no.

1) it would be boring as fuck.

2) all it would take is 1 nasty storm or such to really ruin your day.

i would rather take a boat.
