Must have been som accidents at that driveway or something...is there a blind corner behind the picture taker? Or they just forgot to pull down the 35 sign when they changed the rest of them. lol

Speed limits are determined by a number of factors and signs have to be posted at certain intervals. One of the factors is the presence of driveways.
Likely, the interval was met and a sign had to be posted. At almost the same point, the driveways ended or the number was reduced.

Then the proper sign would be "hidden drive xxx ft".

nope there are defintitely more drive ways after that, and it's not on a blind curve.

Looks like a residential entrance, speed limit for most of those normally 35 or less.

Before the 35mph sign there are other residential entrances too.

That's what it looks like when driving from Tallahassee to Panama City Beach.

65mph
55mph
45mph
35mph
25mph
35mph
45mph
55mph
65mph

Repeat every few miles. Takes 2 hours to go 90 miles.

My guess would be that whoever lives on that driveway makes frequent left-hand turns coming out of their driveway and they petitioned the count/city to reduce the speed limit 500ft before and after their driveway.

I know that in Texas the locals on a street can petition to have the speed limit set however lower they want it but cannot set it above state and city maximums.

I used to drive down a 4-lane divided street, better than some state highways, for my commute and the locals "got tired of those speedster kids" and had the speed limit set to 30 mph (not a typo).

You'd be amazed what you can do if you go down to the local courthouse and filed a few zoning petition docs. Sure they go thru a grace period where they can be contested and refused, but how many people go to the courthouse to see if anyone has put in for crazy petitions that need some refusing brought on'em?

 Yep and on a road with no shoulder like that it is even more strict.

My guess is the 35 MPH is left over from the paving work on the road. It appears to have been done recently.

On the way to my parents' house, there is a 35 mph sign followed shortly by a yellow sign advising of the maximum safe speed on an upcoming curve, and the speed on the yellow sign is 45 mph. Either they changed the speed limit and didn't change the other sign, or they just assume people will speed. ;)

you see that kind of thing pretty frequently on small two-lane highways that pass through the middle of towns. lots of speed limit changes in small increments over short distances, just to sort of ease you into the desired speed.

Could be a county border?

nope

Ok. You know what Quasmo? We weren't supposed to say anything. But we all got together and petitioned to reduce the speed limit for that stretch just to piss you off.
