1) STEEP GM discounts. The practically give the cars away
2) A good portion of GM car sales are to rental agencies. I think somthing like 45-50% of Malibu sales are to fleet agencies compared with 3% for the Accord and 10% for the Camry.

who can or cannot afford it makes little difference, you need to apply the concept of "bang for your buck"... if your looking for a fast car, then you'd be looking at the WRX or something like it...so please don't feed me the line of how great the engine is. The altima is a family car, and family cars SHOULD have nice interiors, especially givin the hefty pricing of a nicely loaded 3.5 SE.
