if the iPod interface is so good, why can't I edit playlists on the fly?

I use the playlist function a lot when we're driving.

Agree, mine was free (no not from the pyramid scheme) but I'd have never bougt one over all the other, better, cheaper players out there.

I play MP3s with headphones. What possible applications would I need? Accessories, the only possible accessory that interests me is an FM broadcast if I feel like playing MP3s from my player on the boat.

Maybe you don't need any accessories or apps. I do. In your case maybe it brings nothing to the table. For people in general, I think that the accessories and apps would be pretty big selling points.
