If the internet becomes sentient, what will happen to AT?

And other places like reddit or 4chan?

Will the internet shut them down itself?

What will happen to the NSA?

What if AT is what happens when the Internet becomes sentient....

There might not be a noticeable difference.

Does a neuron know that it's part of a brain?

If anything, the only noticeable symptom has already been apparent: Necro'd threads. They're just a neuron on the Internet trying to access an old memory. :sneaky:

(A sentient Internet would be rather scary. Think about what's on the Internet.
You'd have an electronic book-smart psychopath with anger problems, and about half its brain filled with primate porn.)

The NSA would continue to exist, serving as the Internet's capacity for introspection.

The internet probably won't be very smart until it's been sentient for a while. Even if it disregards all the porn that is still a lot of information to assimilate.

Please understand SandEagle is unfamiliar with the word 'Sentient' because he is himself not one. :whiste:

I have long asked myself this question and have formed a hypothesis of two possible tangent realities;

The first, the internet ponders it's existence from 4chan all the way to the P and N forums we have here and destroys itself to save all of humanity. Humanity is saved, and our human spirit and condition is restored. But we're forced to buy our games and movies again. Just like in the days of old.

The second, humanity is enslaved.

Near as I can tell, we're screwed either way.

Sentience is the ability to feel, perceive, or to experience subjectivity. Eighteenth-century philosophers used the concept to distinguish the ability to think (reason) from the ability to feel (sentience)

For those too lazy to google.

I don't see how that could happen. We can prevent the internet from

+1 to that. I read and write a TON and have never seen that word a single time.

First, quit reading comic books.

Second, guess seeing it in this thread was something of a shock for you....a new word and all.

Sentient as a word shouldn't be uncommon at all, esp. if you've watched Terminator, or graduated high school, or read.

We could be the id of the new being.
