if the HS250h wasn't a giant ball of fail before

1. looks like a corolla
2. same passenger volume as a corolla
3. basically the same mileage as a corolla
4. gets its butt handed to it by the new lincoln hybrid
😱

You can't deny that Ford is on a roll with it's new lineup. That Lincoln looks pretty darn nice and doesn't scream "tree hugger with more money than sense"

I like Ford, but I think Lincoln is trying to be too retro. That's a trap that Jaguar got caught up in, they should avoid it.

It would help if you posted a pic and some specs. I've actually driven the hs250h...which is probably more than anyone else posting in this thread could say.

I just looked it up. It's a $34k very nicely appointed corolla although with 187 or so horsepower would be faster than a corolla.

oddly i've seen a bunch of these around town lately brand new. i live in the bay area, so maybe its a "i want a hybrid, but i'm rich and want something luxury".

if you have seen one in person its pretty obviously bigger than a corolla. its based on the avenesis which is basically the euro camry.

now i personally wouldn't buy the thing and its pretty expensive at $35k+ but if you have ever sat in one, the interior is absurdly nice. its like lexus LS level good. a lot nicer than say an IS or maybe an ES in there at least materials wise.

I mean they know their demographic. its people who dont care about the actual driving experience and want to feel green, and want to be in cushy luxury. so for that i guess it works.

One thing I liked about the HS is the interior and the technology package. It all works so well, not like that idrive bullshit BMW beats their owners over the head with.

Jules- I've driven an 09 Highlander hybrid for extended periods, and the HS250 for maybe 20 miles.

My personal conclusion? My Fusion Hybrid absolutely wipes the floor with both. The braking is miles better, as is the steering. As is the general driving experience as a whole. Sure the Lexus has a nicer interior as it should, but considering what I paid for my Fusion Hybrid(28K out the door) it's definitely NOT worth the extra 7K+ difference for a car that gets worse mileage, and is smaller.

i am not sure thats entirely fair. resale on the hs250h will probably be better. the hs250h warranty is longer, and they will have better service with loaner cars etc.

granted i dont think thats worth $7k but theres some value to it. the interior is also absurdly better than a fusion one.

I've never driven an HS250h , but i have driven a camry hybrid and rx400h and well, i dont think people interestted in "driving experience" actually go to lexus dealerships anyway (i've driven an IS350 too, and on driving experience, it is the best thing they have and still not that great)

Of course the interior is better and there's a better resale value. It's a more expensive car. The interior better be better and the resale value better be more.

'06-'09 Fusion I agree 1000%, '10+ there's no way. Bro-in-law just bought a 2010 GS350 and the interior is really sweet, but after checking out a decked '10 Fusion SEL I was shocked at how closely the things matched up. Really only memory-adaptive seating settings stood out between them to favor the Lexus, the fit/finish/feel/feature set of both interiors was dead-on awesome on both. Some controls, like AC and radio actually were more intuitive imho compared to the Lex. Both are very nice places to be.

I abbreviated your response, and I do agree that the is350 is the best price/performance super win of Lexus. You really do have to see what Ford has done with the '10+ Fusion though, with the higher trip Hybrid and SELs. Great stuff.

I'm so bonked out on allergy meds that's how I read that... and I was almost going to agree with it that way too. 😳

One question I have for lexus is what's with the cleared out taillights? So freaking tacky and ruins the luxury appeal. I'll admit it was unique back then on the IS but is so played out with all the copycat rice taillights.

Yeah, the diesel engine costs more, and the fuel costs more, so does it make sense to buy?

Same old argument, I guess. Like with hybrids.

The regular A3 engine is the VAG 2.0T, needs 91.

I drove the A3 TDI, loved it. Its like my Jetta but handles like my old GTI.

The A3 does not require premium as far as I can tell. It will run fine on 87 (91RON) with slightly reduced performance.
