Running against Hillary is every Republicans' wet dream.

She's a "known" target, easy to vilify, and even a terrible candidate can get a lot of votes because Hillary galvanizes the base so much.

Unfortunately for McCain, it looks like he will be going against the "unknown" -- a challenge, indeed.

There are reports that Billary is also actively pursuing Obama's pledged delegates to get them to vote for HRC.

eh. you don't think Obama's doing the exact same thing?

I don't. I think Obama's confident he'll have the most pledged delegates already. I'm sure he's realized, just like everyone else, that as long as he has the lead he'll most likely get the superdelegates too. If he tries to turn pledged delegates, then he has no standing to complain when Hillary does it, and the high ground is very important to him. It's only as long as Obama stands for respecting the wishes of the voters, that he can keep Hillary and the superdelegates at bay.

So no, Obama isn't doing the exact same thing.

looks like neither candidate is perusing the other's pledge delegates.

Good of you to admit it. It was pretty obvious that it would be suicide for Obama to try, and it also should have been obvious that it would be stupid for Clinton to try.

Logic says she shouldn't, but with all this talk about superdelegates voting their heart and seating MI and FL, Clinton had yet to indicate that she wouldn't try to win at all costs. I take this as a positive sign that there are limits to what she'd try. That leaves more hope for an amicable conclusion to all this.

Now that I've actually read the "Obama position" on immigration, any Obama supporter going after "mcamnesty" either really needs to put down the koolaide or just needs to come out and say they're a paid shill.

I hate to break this shocking news: McCain, Clinton, And Obama -- All 3 Of Them -- Support Open Borders. And Amnesty.

If that's your sole issue -- and you're a single-issue voter -- you're SOL.

I believe my comment was about the subtitle of the thread, but I could be wrong.

I think all three of the candidates are awful and I'm not a particularly big fan of Obama. However, of the three, I'll take him as the lesser of three evils. My reasoning is that Obama at least has a high intellectual capacity and might have the ability to engage in independent thought and he might eventually come to see reality and rise above political correctness. I don't think the chances are good, just that it's possible for him.

If she somehow steals this from Obama and the party lets her, I'll definitely vote for McCain.

Ironically, if you visit Obama's webpage and read between the lines, he basically supports amnesty just like McCain did and even co-sponsored McCain's McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill. Hillary isn't really any better.

<Sigh>. How the hell did we end up with three candidates, all three of whom favor illegal immigration? What a disappointment on the Republican side of the aisle. How could they not come up with any worthwhile candidates? Maybe the Republicans will be sorry that they shunned Romney soon, not that Romney would have much of a chance against Obama.

Any chance we'll get a worthwhile anti-immigration candidate who isn't a Christian nutjob (ala Tancredo) for 2012 or 2016? I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I'm afraid this sentiment is going to doom the Dems this time around no matter the outcome of the primaries.

I have been waiting for years to kick GWB and the republicans to the curb. Most of that time I was supporting Hillary and hoping for the best. Along comes Obama...he's picking up steam so I started looking and listening but i didn't like what i saw or what i heard so I'll keep on supporting Hillary to the end. If Obama get's the nod, as it seems he will, I'll definitely go for McCain. At least he's not too far to the right and he's shown that he can reach across the isle to work with the left.

Obama may pull it off but I really believe that all he's done is to split what would have been a united Dem party and that split will keep getting worse the longer this goes on.
