I used to have dreams like this.

It's 2000 years ago. I'm standing in the town center of a beautiful, serene village that is 5 minutes away from being torn down & pillaged by rampaging hordes. I stand tall, smoke a cigarette, give a gut-wrenching speech to my townspeople in a language they don't understand and pick up my BFG9000....

i used to have dreams about being at the battle of hastings with a JCB that had a couple of those guns from a A-10 attached.

a JCB with guns and rockets lol! what the hell was i smoking.

Reminds me of that movie where the Nimitz goes back to WWII and had the chance to prevent Pearl Harbor. If the stupid time portal hadn't closed Kirk Douglas could have ruled the world!

They take it way for sure, i'm sure they wouldn't detain you for longer than a month...

Now, imagine how rich and powerful I would be. :)

How would you start a business? It wouldnt matter if someone gave you an IC from 20 years in the future if the technology used to create it was still 20 years away. It takes companies like AMD and INTEL years to get a new process working right, and they know what the hell they are doing. Theres no way you could duplicate the technology. I doubt you would even learn anything useful from it. In fact, I would go as far as to say it would take you more than 20 years to produce a working copy of the PS3 given nothing as a starting point.

what would you do if someone asked you a "what would you do" question and you just happened to have a Desert Eagle in each hand?

jesus christ, you idiot, i'd play the stupid game and be all like, "wow!" WTF do you think i'd do? why would you ask such a stupid f|cking question?

here's a hint: if it starts with "what would you do," it's a stupid f|cking question.

Lets say I wanted to reverse-engineer this future playstation.

Was the technolgy in 1987 of a calibre that could actually provide meaningful reverse engineering? I mean, in the early 80s CPUs were designed by hand, with schematics that would fit on kitchen tables (According to apocryphal tales of the design of the legendary 6502 processor).

And to what extend could you reverse engineer a single sample? - yes, you may find fancy copper interconnects or fancy dielectrics - but identifying them isn't the issue, the problem is making them.
