While I use that term to describe myself, putting it in the OP would have been a flame/troll magnet.

So assuming we can't have the obvious loophole of having kids first then undergoing the immortality procedure, I'll be in the minority that says no immortality and kids. What's the point in life if you can't have a family/pass on your genes? Sure you can bring up all sorts of idealistic shit about how you'd have time to truly benefit society blahblahblah, but when it comes down to it becoming immortal means you would cease to be human. Everything would lose it's flavor and significance as there's no real risk of loss. Life would get dull very quickly, and you can't have kids or any sort of real family because you'll still be a strapping young 20 year old when your wife is in her 90s; and life for the sake of life is pointless.
You could become a Scientist and discover things for awhile, then be a Musician for awhile, do something else, etc. Adopt a kid and poison their Brains!
But the human brain has a finite capacity. Eventually I'd forget key things. My childhood, my life in general, I wouldn't be me.
Neither would you know then. What's the problem?
You could keep pics, Journals, and all sorts of things as a Record. Hell, you'll forget most of your Life as it is, so it's not like things will be much different.
Not the same as actual memories. And I'm only 21, but I remember most of my childhood down to the insignificant stuff. It's nice. In any case like I said I'd lose my identity. Never mind the fact that I'd be left out. Everyone else would grow old and die and I'd lose my friends, family, etc. My entire world would be shattered and rebuilt repeatably. I'd be on a different plane of existence than everyone else.
From my perspective, it'd get old fast. I like my life, I like being human, and as per the OP I most definitely want kids of my own and a family some day. I intend to live a kickass life, but how kickass would that life be if I had infinite time to live it? It wouldn't be, as anyone with infinite time can do whatever is humanly possible. Any and all accomplishments I might make would be meaningless unless I was the only immortal on the planet, which would suck.
Do you really? Think of something....what happens from that moment until you go to sleep that day. What happens after you wake up? Breakfast was? Mom/Dad said?
You have forgotten much more than you realize.
Alright, you want an example? I remember walking around the playground at recess wehn I was nine. I remember I went down the slide, then across the bars twice, then I played wall ball for a few minutes, that game died so I went out behind the brick/concrete shed out there and sucked on honey suckles for a little bit. I remember Brian was playing basketball with Alan and Garrett, and I remember the shape of the leaves on the surrounding trees.
And that's not even half the detail. I can't recall everything, but I remember many relatively insignificant events like that. I also remember running around my house when I was 3 and sucking on a bottle when I was 2.
Well that's good, but what did you say to them or them to you? Some memories are more intact than others, but most of your memories from that time will be gone. Or more accurately, most of what happened at that time in your Life will be forgotten.
