If scanner optical resolution is 600 x 1200 dpi, what is the highest resolution I can scan at? 600dpi?

The software I'm using offers options like 150 dpi, 300 dpi, 600 dpi, 1200 dpi and 2400 dpi. It doesn't offer the format A x B.

I just need to know what is the highest resolution I can select from drop down menu when scanning an image with my " 600 x 1200 dpi " scanner.

Would be great if someone can help with this. Many thanks.

600 x 1200 is the same as 600 x 600, it just scans at half speed to get an extra set of pixels along one axis.

It sounds like 600 x 600 (or "600 dpi") would be the max. optical resolution for your scanner.

In reality you can do beyond the optical resolution just like digital zoom.

600 dpi is plenty though for most needs.
