You are a failure then. The only reason for life is to pass on your DNA. A welfare queen with 17 kids has succeeded in life far more than you. Her DNA could be around a million years from now, yours won't.

That is your belief. Not mine. It's not like im the last male on earth and need to breed to keep humanity going. We already have enough "in the way people" in the world. We have no shortage of DNA around.

LOL! Dang it, does that make me a failure too? Keep in mind I knew (from the age of 2) I probably wouldn't be able to procreate (fluke accident).

I agree. Even involuntary psychiatric commitment falls back on the argument that they are not of sound mind to make decisions for themselves. It is actually a requirement that a doctor says that for someone to be committed against their will.

The closest thing to what we are talking about would be involuntary blood draws by police for sobriety checks. Something else I am strongly against.

That might be a better example. I am coming from the medical field so that isn't something that I would have thought of. A forced blood draw is much less risk but still possible on the spectrum. Supreme court has stated that can't be done without a warrant on 4th amendment grounds.

Possibly. I just never had a desire for children. So for me its just a choice not to. My brother had 4 so he made up for me i guess.
There's no way for me to know for sure but the idea of raising children never appealed to me in any way. I have 6 siblings who produced plenty. My DNA is definitely out there ! Thank Gawd!

I'm actually adopted and dont know my real parents. So i guess technically my DNA could be floating around. My brother is not a blood brother so his DNA has no connection to mine anyways i guess lol

Sorry to hear that you are also a failure...

Thank you. The accident was horrendous but I have no memory of it. I adore children but I always knew I'd never grow up enough to raise children. The responsibility for another human being is far too intense for my tastes.

There is the old saying "failing up". That is definitely how I see it.

Edit: My twin brother used to tell me I was adopted. I responded (as the 7 minute older twin) by telling him he was the after birth from my birth.

Certainly humanity has escaped raw genetics in its legacy. A person who produces no offspring may have large effect on the gene pool based on their actions and values while living. There are models of evolution (see: "inclusive fitness", "altruism", "kin selection") that can account for significant evolutionary contributions from those who do not produce offspring.

Neither my brother nor I have reproduced, and since we are in our mid-40's it seems unlikely it will happen. So our family line ends with us. So, I guess I am in that same failure club.

Ah, the old "i have nothing", so i'll attack your grammar mistakes. So childish and pathetic.
I have plenty! Failing at grade-school grammar is serious bisnis!

The content of the post was so stupid, absurd, and trollish that I'm not going to waste time discussing it. The bad grammar was the more important part of that post.

My husband is the only son in his family. I may have done the world a favor by taking them out of the gene pool.

*just kidding, I love his family but they are no less weird than the rest of the world. I believe they are sleeper agent aliens. At least that's what I tell them any way. His sisters have had children (all female).

for women, there's a birth control shot that lasts at least a month.
let's say there's a birth control shot for men that make them sterile for a month at a time?

would making those on public assistance (welfare/food stamps/section 8 housing/etc) receive these shots greatly reduce the next generation of poor?

less poor = better for society overall?
ie: less resources to prop them up and less crime
The poor people do most of the work and consume the least. If you wanted to reduce the number of poor people, you would go after the rich.

Don't feel bad I think my children will be the end of my line. My son is headed for death by gang shooting and my daughter has no interest in children. So I am failure too. I am thinking of donating to a sperm bank to preserve my precious DNA.

You may as well have just stayed out of this thread then with nothing to contribute but childishly attacking grammar. That is the oldest trick in the book to attempt to derail a topic over nothing. But you only see that tactic when someone realizes they are bested.

Do it! I have no eggs to freeze and donate but I'd do it just in the hope to subject some poor schmuck to what inevitably would be an adventure! I'm confident my me-ness would have passed to the next generation. Yet another reason I'm glad I couldn't have children.

Failing up hardly feels like failing at all.

I'll be 45 early March. My wife is having a partial hysterectomy (medical reasons obviously) just a few days after my bday, so that definitely puts the nail in the coffin pretty much...well..at least for her lol

I'm sorry she has to go through that. I hope she's managed to work through any negative or fearful feelings she may have had. Be extra sweet during her recovery.

Get rid of the biggest welfare queen of them all the Military industrial complex or the multitude of Corparate Welfare programs and Pork Barrel politics then you can concentrate on the small percentage of welfare abusers.

Props for at least acknowledging the 10% chance of making it out of poverty in murica (less if in the South), but you forgot to consider what would happen to the prison industrial complex, all the jobs, directly and indirectly, which would be affected by the OP's eugenics.
