My takeaway
-It's all BS.
-BS is 100% real in the minds of those that believe.
-Belief has no effect on reality itself, only one's interpretation of and response to it.

Reality doesn't care what anyone thinks, it just carries on according to its own laws (i.e. physics), and it's up to us to either adapt ourselves to reality or else construct increasingly complex self-deceptions in order to conform reality to what we think should be.

This just in, the world is not a logical place. Nor, do most of the people care what you call superstition. But, you go right ahead and hold your breath while muttering it's all superstition as the unthinking hordes stone you for being a heretic. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man isn't king, he's an abomination.

I have no kids of my own. I have taken care of some quite a bit that were not mine.

Of course buying 2 tons of body armor for your daily 1/4 mile 7-11 fast food runs takes a toll on someone.

You still don't get it. Refusing to acknowledge the way the world is, is the ignorant and foolish perspective. It doesn't mean you have to change your beliefs but, it does mean you have to acknowledge other beliefs. It's known colloquially as "playing the game " or, "you can't fight city hall."

You don't get it. I understand that people are that way. The difference is that I am telling them that they are acting Irrationally based upon BS.
 
In real life it's generally easier to ignore irrational people and just go about your business. Actually it's easier on the internet too, we just enjoy arguing here.

As individuals you are correct. However, the world is made up of societies which control the venues that individuals are allowed to express themselves. You can adopt whatever form of idealism you wish but, voicing it inappropriately (as decided by the relevant society) is useless and harmful to your own success. I have presented logical argument, examples and, insight yet, you choose not to learn. I guess I've proven my point. 😀

I think you overestimate how many people are concerned about things like the OP's post. You'd need to up the coincidences a lot higher to really get people start muttering about end times or whatever.

My reply wasn't to the tongue in cheek op, it was to those who think there's a (T) ruth regarding what they believe is superstition.

Indeed. Which is why we need to speak up. Beliefs change with new and better ideas. The idea that a third Pope in one year, because there will be 4 "Blood" Moons this year means something is not just ridiculous, but pulled from someones ass.

The *only* consequence of such a thing happening would be in the Believers reaction to such a coincidence. Just consider the fairly recent Camping End of the World predictions. Those who believed in it had consequences, such as Financial hardship after spending all their money on spreading the word.

Some societies believe(d) that some women are/were Witches. Some have changed that belief, because people opposed them and pointed out their error.
