The more that I think about it... I think AMD is already doing this! Based on the number of OEM PCs selling with RX 550 cards in them. AMD just doesn't bother to divert any of them to retail, and honestly, the RX 550 is APU-level weaksauce, it would have to be a 1024-shader RX 560 card to make any real impact on the low-end gaming retail market IMHO.
But the RX 550 / 560 die should be small enough, to be: 1) cheap to make, and 2) have great yields these days. It should be a slam-dunk.
Miners are still going to go for new cards. 580 gets 27Mh per 120W, 3060ti gets 60Mh for the same 120W.AMD should bring back the 580 8g. It is a great card for mining, even now ( about 27 MH ). Get the miners to buy a bunch of those so we can get the newer stuff.

Hate to break it to you, but 3080 is another miner darling, it does 90Mh on 200W meaning it's as profitable as 3060ti but 3080 allows for greater density which is actually a plus. As far as 6800XT goes, they're nowhere to be found. My local microcenter regularly gets 30 series shipments, if you line up 5 hours before opening you'll get nvidia card. I asked sales associate if they had AMD cards and he practically laughed at me.Great point. However, one important detail :
I am trying to buy a 3080 or 6800xt, not a 3060ti.
But now that I know the 3060ti is the mining card to have perhaps I should reevaluate ( ... the dark side calls )
Is there any value in GTX 650 1GB cards? (Do those have GDDR5, or GDDR3, or what? They're EVGA models, I think.)

This listing was from an E-cycler, purportedly, via their username, and they had pictures of an EVGA GTX 650 1GB card, and the contents displayed, still with their plastic, etc.Aren't those the ones that are usually getting the BIOS hacks applied by shady Chinese sellers so that they report as 4 GB Pascal cards?
There was a post about some of them a while ago: https://forums.anandtech.com/thread...and-even-featuring-them-in-their-ads.2589817/
Sigh. Tell me about it. As far as GPUs go, these days, $60 is still "cheap".I wouldn't have paid $60 for them. But these are crazy times.
Don't seem so bad at Fortnite.
My bad, just noticed the thumbnail, that's the 650 ti.
Larry, I don't mean to be funny, but you've wasted your money on junk cards. Sell them now while the market is still overinflated, and don't be stuck holding them when the bubble bursts.
