I had some bad luck with my SB Live (MP3) card and Win2k / Geforce2 so when I got a new mobo I got sound onboard and gave my old SB to my girlfriend. Now my mobo is not playing well with the Sidewinder gamepad I have and I want a new sound card, but not a SB. So what else is there? I don't believe I have even seen other cards out there, but I haven't really looked for anything.

Are the new SB's better? Which other companies make good cards? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

what mb are you using? after getting accustomed to the great sound of the sound blaster you will probably be dissappointed with anything else.in usually dont have problems if you load your motherboard drivers first, mass storage, via 4 in 1's,usb drivers, than reboot load your video drivers, reboot, load sound drivers reboot than your modem drivers, also make sure your sound card is not in pci1 which usually shares an irq with your agp slot,it takes a little time to get your irq's settled but once you do,you'll be more than happy with the sound blaster.almost forgot, try loading just the sound blaster driver, not all the extra crap on the cd.

The Turtle Beach Santa Cruz is all the rage. Its feature list is astounding, and the TI input/output chips provide impressive bandwidth. Do a search on Google for it and you will find a plethora of info and reviews. Check it out.
