do i have to get a sound card?...its an ASUS and it comes with 8CH Realtek on it...it also has optical and coaxal SDIF out....so should that just work fine, or would a sound card make a big difference?

Hmm i ono the onboard sound probably uses more cpu resources than if you just buy and audigy sound card.

You have to listen hard to find a difference. Onboard sound is good enough for almost anything.

Dont worry about CPU ressources... they are plentyfull with the newer CPU. Listen to it and if you like it, you should be ok.

yeah, basically I support what these guys say
BUT, I just recently got an ASUS P5GD2 Premium and I had a sh*tty maddog FAR soundcard from officemax,
I tried to see the difference between them and there wasn't much,
except when I use the onboard sound I hear a buzzing or whirling noise like something on the motherboard is interferring

If you've got the A8N-SLI/A8N-SLI deluxe, and are concerned about CPU usage, you can download the standalone NForce 6.53 drivers, which include an NVidia audio driver for the onboard Realtek audio chipset.

I'm pleased with the decrease of CPU usage from around 18% to about 7% in my system.
