If it were 1979 again, what car would you be driving?

I drove one.

4 speed with Super Track Pack: 4:10 Dana, XHD suspension, maximum cooling package.

Scared the hell out of me.

Hopefully a 1974 or '75 BMW 3.0csi. I have been keeping my eyes open for a nice one of these for some time - I love this car.

A classically gorgeous machine; I wouldn't let my checkbook anywhere near a used one.

Dunno, but a 280Z would be an option.

You'd be better off with an earlier 240Z or 260Z IMO.

I had a grey '77 280z theft recovery that I bought in early 89 for $1000 and was later wrecked when a lady smacked my rear quarter panel. The insurance company paid me $1400 for the accident. Sold the car as is for $800 and bought a '78 280z from the original owner in late 89 for $2000. It was a silver 5 speed, 100% all original than ran nice. The only problem was he painted it himself and did an awful job of it. Didnt matter to me I was a fan. May 1990 a lady in a Honda skidded into my bumper and I got $500. Had the car repainted metallic blue, bought a bumper from the junkyard for $25 and had it installed. That car was sweet and I wish I never got rid of it. You could peel out in 1st and do it again in 2nd on your way to third.

But by late 91 the frame was starting to rust pretty bad. Sold it to some teenage girl for $2000 (which she later wrecked - surprise, surprise). Next was an $8000 seven year old Rubinrot Red Metallic Porsche 944. I loved this car too - money pit lemon though it was. 😉

Wasn't born yet, so I haven't a clue. Think I would drive that back to the future Delorean to get back to the right time period.

I had a 66 Mustang Fastback.
If I could do it over knowing what I know now, it would have been a Chevelle.

Got a lot of nooky back here. (pic not of my car)

In 1979, I wasn't in America, and I was driving my g/f's NSU Prinz. 😛

Btw, Felix Wankel invented the rotary engine in the 1950's @ NSU.

Piston engine goes boing, boing, boing, but the Wankel goes Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I saw this a while back and had never heard of it:

67 fastback. while there may be plenty on the road, it is damned hard to beat the styling and rumble of a nice classic mustang.

if not that, then maybe a stringray. assuming i could fit into one 😛
